Product Description

1:250 Scale Japanese Yamato Electric RC WWII HT-3826 Warship/Battle Ship Yamato, named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was the first built (the lead ship) of the Yamato class. She and her sister ship Musashi were the largest, heaviest, and most powerful battleships ever constructed, weighing 72,802 tons at full load. The class carried the largest naval artillery ever fitted to any warship, nine 460 mm (18.1 inch) guns. The ship held special significance for World War II Japan as symbol of the nation's naval power (the word 'Yamato' was sometimes used to refer to Japan itself), and its relatively effortless sinking by US aircraft in the final days of the war during the suicide Operation Ten-Go is sometimes considered symbolic of Japan's defeat itself. This unit powered by a 7.2V NI-CD Rechargeable Battery. With Light & Glossy Exterior Paint, Twin Powered Motors & Dual Propellers, it works excellent in water. It comes Ready-to-run right out of the box. Features: ?Brand New RC Boat ?Charging time: 5-6 hours ?7.2V Rechargeable battery included ?Suitable age: up to 3 years ?Operational Distance: Around 130 ft ?Playing Time: 20 minutes ?Length: 23" ?Height : 6" ?Width: 4.5" ?Ready To Run Each Package Comes Complete With: ?1 Complete R/C Boat ?A/C Charger ?One Remote Controller ?7.2V Rechargeable Battery Included

My 9 year old used his precious allowance to buy this boat and has been very happy with it, especially with the speed.

3.0 out of 5 stars In case it arrives and won't work..., December 27, 2010

Ours arrived with a strange problem. The remote would work (and therefore the propellers would turn) ONLY if I was pressing on the two wires in the back of the boat that are supposed to be used for "demo" mode. We eventually figured out that if we use something to connect those two wires--a stripped down piece of a pipe cleaner in the shape of a "C" worked for us--then the remote would work without having to be actually touching the back of the ship. Anybody who buys this boat will know what I mean.

On the plus side, my son loves the boat and it is powerful--too much so for a tub but perfect for a pool or a pond. The directions on the box were written by someone whose English was a second or third language, but clear (though didn't address our issue above).

Hopefully there are parents and grandparents of other kids that got this for a gift who will see my review and might get it working instead of having to send it back.
