4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book
Mind Control Language Patterns shouldn't be your only book on covert influence. You get most from it when you have some knowledge and practice in NLP, covert persuasion, secuction or similar skills and arts. It is an excellent reference book when you have something to reference with and an excellent inspirational book when you have practical experience in the real world...

His books or just re-hashes of other authors work, except he makes it appear that he originated the material. I was sucked into buy this and thinking I might learn something new....no, not hardly,,,although it was a good review of Ross Jefferies 1980s speed seduction program, which is totally dated nowadays. a waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yet another reason why copy and paste should be banned!, March 31, 2010
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
This book has so much material that is literally copied word for word from other reputable and credible titles that if you were to remove everything this author "borrowed", you would be left with a couple of pages detailing himself.

Aside from "gaming" Amazon by bribing his website users to post "reviews" on this book in order to receive low-quality "bonuses" (read some of the 5-star reviews for obvious examples), I am not sure whether the author thinks that lowly of the intelligence of amazon users, or whether he feels this weak creation of social proof will actually hold any credence with anyone interested in this field.

With the development of the internet, nowadays, some are self publishing. Not only because they can publish any load of tripe, but also because they can get people on amazon to waste money with next to no effort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference Book, November 9, 2011
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
Mind Control Language Patterns shouldn't be your only book on covert influence. You get most from it when you have some knowledge and practice in NLP, covert persuasion, secuction or similar skills and arts. It is an excellent reference book when you have something to reference with and an excellent inspirational book when you have practical experience in the real world outside of therapeutic settings.
I agree with the one star reviewers that there is information in this book you can find at other places. But the issue is not only about getting new information. It is rather how you can apply information you know but can't use well as yet. And it is about how to apply new skills you didn't know. - If you liked hiking and got a new map showing you streams and hills you knew from other maps but also showed you unknown trails and paths easy to overlook, would you rate such a map with one star because it contains something you know already?
What I really like about the book is that the author analyzes the patterns briefly. This helps you to understand what you do and to adapt what you do to the real world. The analysis is very helpful for advanced users.
If you are a beginner you can use the book in the way the author describes in his Note To Reader. However, it will take some work if you learn and practice alone without feedback from more experienced people. That is because all information necessary to apply the patterns is given in a condensed form. For this reason I give four stars instead of five.
Yes, Mind Control Language Patterns shouldn't be your only book on covert influence. But it should be part of your library as an influencer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, Very Interesting, And Potentially Dangerous, February 20, 2011

I will be up front, I got this book off of his website with a ten dollar discount. I did not buy this book off of Amazon. I have read other books of his as well and enjoyed them. I am a fan of Dantalion Jones, or JK Ellis, or whatever name he seems to be switching back and forth with. However, if you check my reviews, you will see that I am someone who copiously writes reviews, that I am not a staffer of his, that I have no connection, and this is the first book of his that I've decided to write a review on, mostly because, it's the latest one I've read, and I just finished it.

Let me start off by saying that I have spent hundreds of dollars on conversational hypnosis courses, I have used the techniques, in my private life, and in my business life to great effect, so I know for a fact that conversational hypnosis does work. Language is a passion of mine, understanding its power has been a hobby of mine, along with a slight obsession with those that have abused its power--cult leaders like Jim Jones, world leaders like Adolph Hitler--but at the same time, I'm remembered of how language has been used as a call for action, by Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr., and the such. Since anyone with a fourth grade education has seen the damage of what language can do when its misused, and in America, people now living with desegerated schools live in the victory of the power of language, the patterns themselves should be treated with the respect they deserve.

This book does an interesting thing, it is both very informative, and very vague. A pattern like The Door, takes up only about a page, and yet its enough information to allow you to know how it could be done. I believe that this book should be used as a guide of understanding what is out there and what is being used against you, rather than as an educational tool for which to learn from. There may be a need for a book to teach people how to create language patterns and how to use them, but, I would ask that anyone that picks up this book, not sincerely consider doing such language patterns that are discussed in this book on other people.

One, which is designed to start making people question their minds, question their realities, question truths they once held, could truly do harm to someone. Think Mal from Inception--which in a way was just a massively complicated form of hypnosis. The power of language can be deadly and it can be helpful. This book takes you on a journey to both the light side and dark side of language patterns.

To answer some criticisms, I was still a boy in the early nineties, so for me this book reads completely new. Though, yes, I do suppose that some of these patterns you can find with Ross Jeffries, most of them you could probably only get in his 400 dollar course. So, for the low price of 29.95, to be able to absorb this book and all its information, one should feel lucky.

This is a good book to read if you are a beginner. For those that know more about the subject, you might not want to read this book, it lacks details and specifics on how to apply many of the techniques that the author suggest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great work on mind control!, July 5, 2009
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
There are two reasons we may read this book - to learn to use the methods for `good' on yourself - (its wrong to try and control others with these methods) and the other to use for evil. I hope we know the difference.

I read another very interesting and scary book called How to Make a Manchurian Candidate, that had me terrified - it was a Soviet text book and it was just too practical!! How to make a Manchurian Candidate: the Soviet Art of Brainwashing: A synthesis of the Soviet Textbook on Psychopolitics

Be careful!

4.0 out of 5 stars How some people work to influence, January 7, 2009
By
Tom Marcoux (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
This book will likely make many people angry. Often, a reader will get a jolt and realize: "So that's how I was being influenced!" If you want to learn the tough truth about how certain individuals work to influence others, then this book may be a resource. The book even shows how to use a "Meta Model Response" to counter inappropriate tactics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Useful, October 23, 2008
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
As an author of a persuasion course focused on NLP / conversational hypnosis, I'm always curious about what other authors are writing in this field. I'm somewhat familiar with Dantalion Jones (previously known as JK Ellis), and have found his work to be delightfully irreverent to the mainstream.

My first reaction to this book was along the lines of, "Wait a minute! This stuff doesn't belong in a cheap paperback book! This is what people pay $100 - $300 to learn!' My second reaction was "I just might have to adjust the price of my course to compete with this."

I have to admit that as I read through this book, I found myself thinking "What an interesting way to implement that!" No matter how many books and courses I study, I always get something out of each one, and this was no exception. Rather, I found myself learning far more than I have in most courses, with the abundance of examples Dantalion includes to illustrate how to use the various language patterns.

I was very relieved to see that the "Black Ops" techniques were presented in the context of "how to avoid being influenced" rather than "how to take advantage of others." The fact that Dantalion often shows how to counter each technique makes this a book worth having just to know how to defend yourself against others using them.

This is much more than a simple collection of stock phrases and scripted mind tricks, as you find too often online. Every example I see here is a living, breathing, example of daily conversation with just enough of a twist to make it extremely effective in persuading others to comply with your suggestions. Anyone can take what's here and put it to use without sounding like they're reading from a script.

I will certainly be referring to this book many times as I continue my education into the many aspects of persuasion.

All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn persuasive NLP and conversational hypnosis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review, February 24, 2010
This review is from: Mind Control Language Patterns (Paperback)
This book seems to have a lot of information in it about the subject the book refers to. Although I have bought a couple of other books by Dantalion on the same subject, and he does repeat a lot of what is written in his other books. Which makes one a little frustrated when one expects to find new material in them.
I have only read through this book once though, and I do need to study it again. As they say 'before enlightenment comes confusion'.
So there is a lot of clarification that needs to take place, after this subject is absorbed.
And there are a lot of other books on the market that do an equally good job. One will always find though, that what doesn't enlighten one in a certain book, you will eventually find to clarify things in another one.
