A Pleasant suprise in the world of 'Gothic' metal,
By JadeAuto "Tin" (California, USA) - See all my reviews

This ten-track beauty came to my notice a few weeks ago, thanks to the wonderful music matching skills of last.fm
Quick track review from someone who loves female singers juxtaposed with heavy riffs and decent electronica (symphonic gothic metal, some call this): 1) No More - this track got me hooked on the band. I love the mix of electronica behind the main guitar riffs, along with a catchy chorus. 9/10 2) In Control - title track the cd. another great riff, good lyrics, and comes at you with the same pace and speed as the first song. 9/10 3) Home - the first song you could call a 'ballad' (you can slightly compare it to the band version of my immortal, but much harder, riff wise). It's nice, but it's just missing something that I found enjoyable from the first two tracks on this cd. 6/10 4) The Way I Feel - this song will take you totally off guard. very slow, mild, and is a duet. Not at all decently placed sequence wise on the cd, but it's a nice song nonetheless. 5/10 due to placement. would have been better at the end (say 7/10) 5) Lost Inside - Now we get back into the energetic, catch-you-up and don't-let-you-down riff-age and lyrics that draw me to this group. Slow start but then it builds quite nicely and hits you with full-forced energy. 9/10 6) Remember - another good song. Unfortunately, this one is... quite repetitive in the chorus (not sure if it's a cover song or not). If it had a bit more variety, I would appreciate it more. 7/10 7) Believe - Not too fond of this song. It's still hard, but again, it's more of a ballad than a goth metal song. 5/10 8) Like the Air - This song, lyrically, is the best on the album. I totally can see exactly what was implied by the lyrics, and the tone and melody of the song sync perfectly with the message being delivered. IMO best track on the album. 10/10 9) Broken - I had to listen to this one a few times while writing this review to give it an honest opinion. I have mixed feelings on it. I like it, but something about it just dosen't have the best balance. 8/10 for that sightly uneasy feel about it. 10) Never - this song has a great feel to it. It's not too long, hits hard, has nice lyrical content. 9/10. Overall, I would say this CD is an 8 out of 10. It's got some great tracks, though a few do bring this down from what it could be. I would recomend hopping over to www.last.fm to listen to the tracks on this CD for free (since it dosen't seem Amazon has this available to listen to) before you purchase. If you like the first song on the CD though, you won't be dissapointed.

It's amazing what you stumble upon while scavenging for some new music. I found this band going through an iMix playlist on iTunes and the first song that got my attention was Broken. This track hooks you in with a light electronic riff as Manda, the bands' Femme metale, serenades you with her angelic voice, and as the chrous explodes, you soon realize that Manda is a force to be reckoned with. But it was the music video for "No More" that had me do more research, and i found myself buying the whole album (which rarely happens). I strongly recommened buying this album. If i could i would rate this album and band a 20/5 stars. Happy listening! ;)

Found this group on youtube... Blew me away at the awsome quality of writing, playing, lyrics, I don't think they have one dud on either album every song on both of there albums are wonderful.!!
Mana is more artistic and great, and in control is more main stream and over the top!!
