4.0 out of 5 stars Breaks, Breaks Breaks.
Love the layout of this controller, and like the fact that they come in different colors. Unfortunately, I have been able to break the right trigger on both that I bought. The trigger is mounted by two shoddy plastic pins on each side.

Never again

Well, I really wanted to like this controller... but I simply just can't :(

What I liked:
- Smaller than the MS controller, better form fitting as well... Really feels nice and comfortable
- Traditional diamond button layout rather that the angled mess that is on the MS controller
- Better d-pad

What I didn't and will probably make me return it:

What I didn't and will probably make me return it:
- The buttons are LOUD... and cheap sounding. Definitley a distraction... Uh, everyone in QA not notice this?
- The buttons need to be completely pressed to get any action out of them. This causes a lot of missed button presses... TonyHawk 2X is supposed to be pressure sensitive, not with this thing... it's all or nothing and you really have to press them to get it to work

So, my quest for the perfect XBox controller moves on... Here's hoping the Japenese MS controller hits the market sooner than later

2.0 out of 5 stars This controller is all looks, no function!, December 18, 2001

Yes, this controller looks very nice. The rubber pads are great, and it is a bit smaller. However, the response on it is horrible.

First off, I like the Microsoft controllers. I have small hands and people complain about the size of the controller, but after a little bit of playing, it really does feel natural in your hands. ALL the buttons are pressure sensitive; this is not the case with the MadCatz controllers.

The buttons on the Madcatz controllers are NOT pressure sensitive. I have confirmed this by going into the Sparring Mode of DOA3 and running through the moves tutorial. When using this controller, the moves are different. You now have to use the direction pad in combination with different button presses to execute moves.

For example, a certain move that requires just a HARD button press with the Microsoft controller now requires you to hit Down on the direction pad along with the button press to pull off the same move with the MadCatz controller. Add to that the fact that you have to really push down on the MadCatz buttons to get any response out of it really makes the MadCatz an inferior, frustrating, and after long periods of play, a painful controller to use.

Do yourself a favor, just stick with the Microsoft controllers for now and avoid this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not worth It, December 31, 2001

The control feels nice in the hands but the buttons are very loud when you press them. I let my friends use it when we play DOA3 that way i know when they are trying to do a combo move.

Another thing i don't like is the spacing on the buttons, they are spaced out much further than on the MS version. The button spacing is like that of a playstation controler and then the white/black buttons are far above.

The last drawback is that the D-pad is not smooth and round but angled causing thumb soreness after playing for a good while.

I don't know why all these people are bitching. This is the best third prty controller out there. If you dont' think so check out egm or game pro. It's smaller lighter and has the layout of a dreamcast or playstation caontroller. The added macro function is cool too. The only down side is the triggers don't have enough pull to them. If you need an extra or don't like the original get this one. If you don't like it let someone else use it(2-4 player games). Please do yourself a favor and don't buy the interact controllers they're horrible. Get this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible controller, January 2, 2002
This review is from: Control Pad- Transparent Green (Video Game)
This is a nice looking controller compared to the one X-box comes with. Unfortunately, it's not durable. After playing Dead Or Alive for few minuites the right trigger got stucked, the spring in it seems to malfunction. It's terrible come to think I didn't even exerted so much force on it. The reaction of the controller seems to be slower than microsoft's controller. For a few more bucks, I think microsoft's controller is far more superior in quality.

I have gone thru about 7 of these controllers, i thought maybe it was a bad batch but they all stink. I have broken the analog stick on all of them, they are junk. The only good thing is the lifetime warranty by Mad Catz but who wants to keep returning them every 2 weeks? ...

2.0 out of 5 stars So much potential... but a HUGE probelm!, January 17, 2002
This review is from: Control Pad- Transparent Green (Video Game)
I knew this was the controller I wanted the minute I saw it. It was smaller than the regular controller, with a button layout that is a little more sensible. It "looks" like the perfect Xbox contoller... but unfortunately, it's not. The problem? You HAVE to press the buttons ALL the way down to register and you have to do it HARD, which leads me to believe that they are not pressure sensitive whatsoever. The ONLY thing they register is brute force. My poor 90lb wife couldn't muster a single punch or kick against me in DOA3. My suggestion... wait just a little longer and buy an imported Japanese controller. It has a very similar layout and is about the same size as well, however, the quality is that of an original controller. Sorry Mad Catz, you blew it... did you even TRY to use your controller before you released it? Please don't waste your money on this, it'll only caused frustration and madness... trust me on this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Two major problems, May 18, 2004
This review is from: Control Pad- Transparent Green (Video Game)
When I first bought this controller I loved it. So I went out and bought four of them. Now every one of them is broke
the R trigger on each controller is pressed in and will not pop
back out. I have never seen the likes of this. I still have my 3do and sega genesis controllers which work fine.

Another issue is there seems to be a conflict with this controller and EA's games, especially there sports titles.
Sometimes I have to unplug the controller then plug it back in.
Or I will get a disc is dirty, unable to read error.

When I bought these controllers they were the only option to
Microsoft's big black hunk of junk. No with the new s controller
and all the other options out there, stay clear of these controllers.
