4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, not the best
This control is... cheaper than a regular ps2 dual shock control, and accomadates bigger hands better since the control handles are wider apart. However, the dpad feels a little weird and it IS third party which voids your warranty with sony (at least thats how it was with ps1 third party peripherals). On the plus side, it is much more comfortable for me, since it is sized more for an adult than the standard Sony controller, and has a softer gamepad control for the d-pad. Sony's controller has four separate buttons for the d-pad, which makes it harder on the thumbs over time.

All in all, they aren't worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stick with the original gamepad, November 27, 2000

This gamepad may have its good points but nothing to compare to the original. The poor quality of this product shows from its fragile control sticks to its flimsy analog buttons. I have owned two and both broke within a week. Stay away from these third party manufacturers and pay the extra buck for original PS2 products.

Wow, let me count the ways this controller [stinks].
Let's start with the fact that this waste of $$$ will VOID YOUR PS2 WARRANTY!!! Yep, I found out the hard way. Any (ANY!) third-party accessory you buy that is not licensed by SONY will INSTANTLY VOID YOUR PS2 WARRANTY. One month after purchasing my PS2 (which was also the time period for the return policy at the store I bought the PS2 from) I made the mistake of picking up one of these horrid controllers (it lasted two weeks before finally dying - that is, when I could play games). Games started locking up left and right after I started using it. According to SONY tech support, the second I plugged in this uncomfortable hunk of poo, my PS2 warranty went flying out the window. So I sent the PS2 back to SONY for repair (along with this controller for testing) at the price of $119 and a month without the machine (it's hard to watch your new DVD's when your brand new DVD player is already being repaired). The PS2 came back repaired along with a new warranty and a letter from SONY stating this controller was the cause of the problem as determined by diagnostic testing. SHWEEEEEEEEEET!!!
I understand that this will not happen to every PS2 combined with this controller, BUT you WILL lose your warranty none the less. I have run across this issue on several PS2 message boards and the SONY tech support person I initially spoke with said many other PS2 owners have had this problem thanks to the Dual Impact Gamepad. Please, learn from my mistake and spend the extra cabbage on a good controller. Or not, it's your $$$.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but functions poorly., April 8, 2003
This review is from: Controller for Sony Playstation 2, Dual Impact 2 by Performance (Video Game)
Everyone likes saving money, and this controller is cheaper by far, but it's not worth it. Aside from the occasionally working buttons and tricky directional-pad, the worst crime comes from the rumble feature. If you're playing a game that uses the rumble feature a lot, you're going to discover that [inferior] plastic shaking in your hands not only feels wrong, but it sounds wrong, too. I had people from way across the room comment on the loud noises coming from the vibrations of this plastic wonder. Do yourself a favor and just buy the real thing instead of this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Affordable, yes. Comfortable, yes. Good controller, no., February 21, 2003

First thing's first. Unless you have big hands that don't fit the normal ps2 controller, buy the sony controller.
I bought this controller thinking it would be good enough for what I paid for it, seeing I just needed a 2nd controller. I brought it home, plugged it in, and already it started giving me problems. The R1 and L1 buttons barely work, and some times you can barely tell if you pushed them (they don't have that nice little click the DualShocks have). Then, while playing Madden, I found an even more annoying problem, the left analog stick only worked from side to side. When I pushed it forward or back, nothing happened. Other than that, the controller worked okay.
The controller could have been very good, it has a nice feel and the rumblers are a little stronger than the DualShock. Also, the D-pad is alot more comfortable.
I think InterAct should have focused a little more on quality and durability. The gamepad should not be half broken by the time it reaches your home. (P.S. InterAct makes other good stuff, though.)
So, my advice, don't buy it. Buy the DualShock 2. It costs more, but its durable, high quality, and still probably the best controller out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok, But not the best, September 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Controller for Sony Playstation 2, Dual Impact 2 by Performance (Video Game)
I bought this controler for my PS1 and it works just as well as it would for a PS2, but that's about where the good points end. It has strong vibration feedback, but it is so noisy when it vibrates, someone could hear it in the next room. Also, when you first turn on the system, the analog will spontaniously turn off. And another thing, the controler's anlog stick's grips are very slippery when they get sweat on them, wich makes it very hard to manuver around in a game. In my opinion, spend your [money] on somthing better. WAY better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the best but works., January 3, 2002
This review is from: Controller for Sony Playstation 2, Dual Impact 2 by Performance (Video Game)
It's really big and vibrates alot! The first week I got it, one of the anologs broke off and I had to glue it back on. Just the other day, my R2 button broke off. Its not a very good controller, but if you like things that vibrate alot, then it's just for you.

I bought this controller and thought it was da bomb! Then I wrapped it up to take it somewhere and it stopped working! I had to sit down and make sure the wire was streched out completely or it would wouldn't work! So if you like sitting completely still while your playing, go ahead and buy it.

I bought this controller and the analog joystick broke after the first use. I bought the Sony brand dualshock analog controller and I have not had a problem since.
