One heck of an indie album,

I stumbled upon Sorry About Dresden through my fellow DJs. Inevitably, i had to review the album. To say the least, I was pleasantly suprised. The album kicks off with "A Losing Season", a strong, loud anthemic album opener. The lead singer has a strong, throaty voice which carries throughout the album and sustains the feel of the songs. Carried above jangle rock guitar lines and minimal drumming, each song feels like a well crafted, low-fidelity pop song that we would have listened to in the sixties. That dirty, gritty feel is kept in each song and really brings an intrigue to each piece. Possessing one of the greatest band names in the history of rock and roll, it's fitting enough that the songs are dark, powerful and smart enough to make the album extremely enjoyable. Anyone craving a classic rock sound that's fresh and new, check this album out. It'll display to you the wonders of indie rock.

Great,

Simply this LP lifts SAD above their contemporaries into the realm of Elvis Costello, The Replacements, Husker Du, and The dB's. Unfortunatley they will probably never get the recognition they deserve because the kids to day are too young to know and the folks who would enjoy them the most are too old. One of the ten best bands around today.

Just to set the recond straight,

just to let people know Matt Oberst (Sorry About Dresden) is NOT Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), althought they are brothers. I was fortunate enough to know Matt and he is truly a great person. As for the music I cannot speak of that since I don't have the album.
