5.0 out of 5 stars One heck of an indie album, January 25, 2002
By
This review is from: Convenience of Indecision (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon Sorry About Dresden through my fellow DJs. Inevitably, i had to review the album.

To say the least, I was pleasantly suprised. The album kicks off with "A Losing Season", a strong, loud anthemic album opener. The lead singer has a strong, throaty voice which carries throughout the album and sustains the feel of the songs. Carried above jangle rock guitar lines and minimal drumming, each song feels like a well crafted, low-fidelity pop song that we would have listened to in the sixties. That dirty, gritty feel is kept in each song and really brings an intrigue to each piece.

Possessing one of the greatest band names in the history of rock and roll, it's fitting enough that the songs are dark, powerful and smart enough to make the album extremely enjoyable.

Anyone craving a classic rock sound that's fresh and new, check this album out. It'll display to you the wonders of indie rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, February 25, 2003

Simply this LP lifts SAD above their contemporaries into the realm of Elvis Costello, The Replacements, Husker Du, and The dB's. Unfortunatley they will probably never get the recognition they deserve because the kids to day are too young to know and the folks who would enjoy them the most are too old.

One of the ten best bands around today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just to set the recond straight, July 13, 2006

just to let people know Matt Oberst (Sorry About Dresden) is NOT Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), althought they are brothers. I was fortunate enough to know Matt and he is truly a great person. As for the music I cannot speak of that since I don't have the album.

4.0 out of 5 stars actually..., November 25, 2002

This is not "another conor oberst project" but the work of his brother. a decent release compared to others of its genre and definitely stronger than their previous releases.

hey, whoever said this was another one of conor's projects must be on something. can't you tell the difference in the voices? conor is the greatest of our time, but his brother deserves some respect too.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Saddle Creeks Best, December 30, 2001
This review is from: Convenience of Indecision (Audio CD)
Another one of Conor Oberst's projects - my first thought on this album was "oh great, another emo band", but when I popped it in, I was completely addicted. The songs flow into one another like a story to be told. A little rock, a little shoegaze, mixed in with the soulful vocals and that's what you have in this album. Definately one of the best of 2001.
