5.0 out of 5 stars andre branches out
this is my favorite album of andre's hands down. He mixes it up on this album with all sorts of new beats he even has a song with some old world Irish feel. Why can't andre get some radio play for his original numbers? I'm tired of all that generic crap on KMEL Dre dog is an inovative mc and the DVD that comes with was entertaining as well. Why can't andre get some radio play for his original numbers? I'm tired of all that generic crap on KMEL Dre dog is an inovative mc and the DVD that comes with was entertaining as well. I read a couple of reviews of this album that were not too favorable, and frankly since this is a departure from the his old stuff some of the fans might not like it as much, but personally I get tired of the same old thing. Formulaic hip hop is all over the place, this is a piece that will surprise you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another incredible CD..., August 24, 2003
This review is from: Conversation With a Devil (CD + DVD) (Audio CD)
I have loved Nickatina's music for ten years now, and he consistantly delivers CD's which are good from beginning to end. This is no exception - from the first track to the end, this is a great CD. I love how his style changes a bit with every CD - this CD has two really great new songs that stretch his style - tracks one and five. AYO is fab of course but that isn't strictly new as others have pointed out.

And the DVD that comes with it is hilarious. Watch out Ice Cube, there's another rap-star turned director coming up.

This is one of the few artists I actually supported by buying his CD and not downloading it for free. It was worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Tracks, July 31, 2004
This review is from: Conversation With a Devil (CD + DVD) (Audio CD)
this album is tha bomb. it shows maturity in dredog's style, aging like fine wine. The production is stellar and, combined with his flavorful delivery of lyrics, yields a tasty treat for the ears. Guest appearances from Equipto compliment Nicky-T's style and, i'm telling you, this hiphop is tha shi!t.

i figured i'd write this review on the account that no other frisco heads have taken the time to put in their $.02.

Dredog, representin from the fillmo and SF ya'll heaaard

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again the Rap God strikes!, June 11, 2006
This review is from: Conversation With a Devil (CD + DVD) (Audio CD)
Every time I listen to a new Nickatina album it seems like he gets better and better, re-defining the style he created by himself. I'va said it before on previous albums - Andre Nikatina is one of the most creative, talented and intelligent artists in the music industry. I am not talking about the rap industry only - I mean the whole MUSIC industry. Nicky is a genius. He calls himself Rap God (sometimes only "God") and I think he's right. On this album he proves it again. He comes out with some of the best music that can be heard. The production is straight flawless - handles by the one and only Nick Peace (another genius), Smoove-E, Mr. Pete, Jullian and a few others. The beats are creative and sound like nothing you would hear anywhere else. Nicky never ever follows the trends in the wack rap industry these days. He does his own thing, he CREATES!!! He's original not only with his beats but with his lyrics as well. They are smart, mature, sometimes funny, always very intelligent and PERSONAL. Dre doesn't pretend to be something he's not - he's just being himeslf - a rapper, a Rap God. Conversation with a Devel (aka Cocaine Raps no. 3) might be even better than the last few albums Nicky has done, since it's longer and there are no 1 or 2 minute tracks there (not that they were bad on those albums, it's just that we all want to hear more Nicky verses) - all songs have got at least 2 verses. Another thing is the guest rappers. You get only 2 - Equipto (who's on 2 songs) and San Quinn (on Ayo - a song from 2003), and actually - you don't need more, when you have the Rap God on every single song, spitting nothing but masterpiece verses. Andre Nickatina raps about everything - about women ("Conversation with a devil", "The God and The Stripper), about drug-dealers (My Vacation in Florida, Train With no Love), about the rap game, and just about anything you can think of. He spits some hard-core verses (where he just sound like in 1993, compeletely on fire, with his voice tearing sh_t appart), and some mellower and smoother ones. His voice is one of the best in the industry, and just like rappers like 2Pac - sometimes the WAY he raps, the way he USES HIS VOICE can make the song sound incredible.

Conversation With A Devil shows Nicky at his best. If you really know about rap music, you must not miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wrap it up like dough fly like a bird, October 29, 2003

Ima drop this on you real easy. Nickatina's the sh$t. Ever since i heard my first nickatina song(fears of a coke lord) I was hooked. He's got the best beats, the best rhymes and the best sound of anybody i've ever heard. Best yet, his concerts are only like 10 bucks. Now i've heard a few people say this song or that song aint cool on his new cd, but the whole thing is the sh$t. I think it's one of the best yet. I for one, feel that above all, I Hate You With A Passion is the best, but this ranks up there. If you've heard Nickatina, then you'll know this cd is going to be awesome. IF you havn't, DO. You won't regret it. Peace out tigas. Kyle

As I'm reading these reviews, I'm thinking.... WHERE HAVE YOU CAT'S BEEN!!!! Look for 10 years Nickatina has blessed Northern California with some of the dopest flows on the planet.
This album rates somewhere in the middle. Starting out as Dre Dog his unique flow and sinister beats made him a local "Rap God", Andre has found a way to change his style with the times, and grow into the lyricist he is today. Something all greats find a way to do. ALL of his albums are excellent, with the exception of These R The Tails. This album was never intended to be a major release. If I had to pick his best album it would be Raven In My Eyes (Cocaine Raps Vol.1) There are two versions of this album. It is still possible to find a copy of Raven in My Eyes, but the original Cocaine Raps is extremely rare. CR3 is another hit from a long time Rap God!

This cd is a great additon to the cocaine raps trilogy. almost every track is great except 2. ( that is really good for an andre CD!!) He came back from THESE R THE TALES with this sick album. plus it comes with a dvd! What else do you want the baller from the bay named andre to play?! YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH THESE SHRIP COST!

if you want andres best albums....first find a copy of COCAINE RAPS VOL 1 (very rare) this was his first album as nickatina(best album hes ever made) and make sure you get vol 2 the daquri factory...and this CD of corse...but my favorite andre CD would have to be tears of a clown besides cocaine raps. these four cds are a must have for any bay area fan. gotta catch em all!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars You're not thinkin of takin over the cartah?, August 12, 2003

Conversation with a Devil is a great cd. There are only a few tracks that I'm not a fan of on this album. I will review by track .

-Conversation With a Devil - Introduction into CR3. You're rollin with a pisces buckle up tight. ;)
-Fly Like a Bird - EDIT: This song is one of the best, wrap it up like dope.
-Rise and Fall of a Rap Cat - Why is this on the album?
-Pick-Cha - Ok, why are all the terrible songs at the beginning.
-Dice Of Life - My favorite song on the album. The "Camelot" like beat is so unique and he raps on top of it so smoothly. MIKE TYSON LOVES CUS D'AMATO! How many rappers besides nicky can make a song without cussing as well? No one, shut up negative nancy's.
-5th Gear - One of my favorites, althought it may be COMMERCIALIZED (good job idiot who said that), it's a great song. Listen to it when you're on the freeway in your rx7, you'll think better. Awesome driving song.
-Soul Of a Coke Dealer - Decent song, nice calm beat. Dre Dog raps smoothly on this beat as well.
-The God and the Stripper - I start to like this more and more. Good Track.
-Falcon and the Snowman - ANOTHER awesome track with Equipto. Kick and parlay.
-Summer in Florida - the actual verses are ok, but the chorus just makes the die out.
-Ayo - Old song, but one of his greatest songs ever made.
-Fist Full of Dollars - Jeez, this song is SO supreme. Here comes nicky again with his scottish beats. "Never on time, always late ;)"
-Train with No Love - Another track I like more after I listen to it more. All aboard :D!
-Nino Did the Cartah - Great track. Yeah, We're taking over the Cartah.
-Show Gone Wrong - :(
