5.0 out of 5 stars Great place to start! December 19, 2010
Format:Paperback
Conversation Magic by Arlen Busenitz is a quick and easy read that I finished in one evening. This book is a simple guide to helping people overcome their fear and anxiety in social settings and teach practical methods for initiating conversations.

As mentioned, this book is a quick read and despite being small, gives several ideas on conversation starters and topics to help people have something in the "back pocket" so they don't ever feel at a loss for subjects to talk about. The book also mentions several principles about conversation that helps to explain the when, where, and how to use these topics.

My only criticism of this book is that it is just a beginner's guide. Certainly there are several other tools for conversation that could be added or discussed in a follow up book. While this book will not make a person a conversation expert, it will certainly start someone on the path away from being a wall-flower. If you've ever doubted you would be able to carry on meaningful conversation with people you have just met, then this book is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uses Simple Words to Convey Message January 18, 2012
By Samuel
Format:Kindle Edition
I like how the book uses simple words to teach the reader about how to be a more successful conversationalist. It has helped me ask better questions to the people I talk with. it also helped me to better assist customers as a sales assoiate at a retail store. The book could easily be read in one evening, and the constant reinforcement within the book helped me to stay focused on absorbing the main points.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magic is Simpler When You Know the Tricks September 30, 2010
Format:Paperback
Conversation Magic offers easy to digest content, step by step ideas, and action items that are easy to practice. This book serves as an excellent primer for anyone heading into the workplace for the first time, trying to break into a new social circle, or taking their first job in sales. It makes a great 'airplane read', and while the concepts may seem basic, putting them into practice will yield rewards beyond what the reader may expect at first glance. A great book to start any sales and communication library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, simple tips! January 24, 2012
By BunGirl
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book has a wealth of simple, easy-to-follow tips for improving your ability to converse in business and social settings. I would imagine for most people, as you read this book you will find some things that you already knew and already practice. But equally, there is some good advice in here from which almost anyone could benefit, and if nothing else, the conversation starters and examples of open-ended questions will be helpful in almost any situation.

My original review for this book was one star. This was not because of the content of the book, but rather because some formatting issues caused the book to be unreadable in places on my kindle. Mr. Busenitz was kind enough to email me and sort the problem out for me and I am now assured that the current Kindle version is fixed and should work properly for everyone. Other authors take note: this is how customer service should be done.

Improve your conversation skills in one evening? The title sounds like hyperbole, but the book lives up to its title. An easy read, it provided me with new ideas and skills, and truly did improve my conversation skills right away. I have already put the ideas to work many times, with great success!
