Shame on me, I never gave this guy a chance although I'd seen him on the best seller lists for years. I assumed he was just another pop-psychology feel good Yoda for self absorbed spoiled over-paid yuppies. Boy I was wrong. He nails it-and you just got to hear it from him; the importance of of, well, an array of transcendant acceptances-and the revelations that follow-the discovery of value where we expect it least. His exploration of Europes concept and worldview of the soul before the advent of hard science's rigid sequential and processional thinking-and his quiet zen in melding Eastern ideas as well-brilliant, through and through. But more than brilliant, his work is important, I believe; transforming the ordinary to the sacred again-and that's it then, isn't it, which our viscous economic hierarchy of wealth and glamour violates-the sanctity of the ordinary. "Ordinary"? Is anything? In a culture that makes the beautiful brutal, his revelations on the nature of things we ignore at our peril is truly beautiful instead of merely beautiful, like cool water in a parched stretch of hard-packedTales from the Pandoran Age: Book One: Silurian World road.
