Conversations With Animals by Lydia Hiby & Bonnie Weintraub,
By jackie sennott (Oregon, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
An Excellent book - A Classic! I couldn't put the book down because I found it so interesting and informative. The book was easy to read, kept my interest intensely, and I gained so much needed knowledge. Learning to be more intuitive with my pets is a blessing for both the pets and myself and we are happier together for it. Everytime another friend has a special day I purchase another copy of this book to give to he or she as a gift. I certainly am looking forward to a second book by these ladies. Since reading the book I have seen Lydia Hiby on national television several times. After I read the book I would pick it up and read parts of the book again, over and over, and, what is amazing to me is that the book actually began to feel heavy in my hands because it has so much information packed into it and it is so easy to comprehend.

This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
I first saw Lydia giving a lecture at Equitana in 1997. Sitting in the audience with many others, I first heard of animal communicating. I have been waiting for this book since. I have 2 horses and 2 dogs and have often felt a connection that couldn't be explained. Lydia and Bonnie have the unique ability to explain and guide you through the concept of talking to animals. If you have ever wished you could help, comfort, or just talk to your best friends, this is the one book that can will assist you in that wonderful goal.

Honest and Authentic Look at Communication with Animals,
By A Customer
This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
I have to admit I was skeptical of animal communicators when I began reading this book, but I am now a believer! And I appreciate how Lydia Hiby so honestly tells her own story of skepticism and her process to finally accept and develop her own skills as an animal communicator, mentoring with Beatrice Lydecker, one of the preeminent animal communicators who first opened wide this concept of communicating with animals.Lydia Hiby's stories are fascinating, and she does a good job of explaining how she basically communicates with the animals. She demystifies the communication process in a lengthy chapter, a great beginning point for novices like me. She also readily admits that communicating with animals takes time and hard work. And as Lydia Hiby shared in her own story, she worked hard for many years as an animal communicator to hone her own skills. I have had the privilege of having Lydia Hiby communicate with my dogs, in particular one who had some chronic health problems. We had tried several medical suggestions, but the condition only worsened. With information relayed to us by Lydia Hiby, we were able to make some changes that improved our dog's health tremendously. As Lydia Hiby states in her book, she works with veterinarians who seek her help when they cannot figure out the problem. She also has a glowing endorsement from a veterinarian on the back of the book, further proof of her authenticity as an animal communicator. I highly recommend this book for those who love their animal companions, and are willing to open up to a whole new way of thinking about them.

If you have ever adored a pet or felt an animal was trying to tell you something, you'll enjoy these stories. Animals are full of fascinating observations if only someone was paying attention! Lydia shares some of the highlights of her conversations with animals and helps you to improve your communication skills with your pets. If you learn to pay attention to moods and body language, you'll be on your way to further developing your non-verbal communication skills and talking to your pets!

Facinating and Awakening!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
I got this book as a gift from a friend who had Lydia do a reading on her horse. I have always been facinated with anyone who can talk to the animals and was thrilled to find a section where I could learn how to do it! I had previously purchased "how to" video tapes and was very dissappointed to find that they had no instructional value and were just testimonials about the communicator. This book was a facinating read and a great guideline! My dog and I are most grateful!

This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
I found the stories of her success with this technique interesting, and it is an easy and enjoyable read, but if you want to learn how to do this yourself, as I do, then this is not the right book. This book devotes only one chapter on how to do this and of that chapter, only 5 pages or so specifically tell you what to do. Even that is weak...telling me to listen and be honest is not enough, if that's all it took then indeed, everyone would hear them. If that's not enough there's more. I had a reading with her when one of my cats disappeared and one of my dogs was sick. This was before I read her book. She told me my cats collar and tag had come off during an incident with a car and that some woman had him and was keeping him locked in her house and was spraying him in the face with a spray bottle of water everytime he tried to leave. She told me to put up posters in the North West area from where I lived. I did. I waited. No cat. Despite my dog having daily abdominal cramps, she did not pick up on them at all. This I found very suspect. It was after this reading that I went and got her book. When I got to the part where she recommends spraying cats in the face with a spray bottle of water, I found myself wondering about her abilities. Was she projecting what she likes to do to cats to the supposed woman who had my cat? Three months and three weeks after my cat disappeared, I recieved a call from someone who found him, still wearing his collar and tag. They said he had been hanging around for weeks but they couldn't get close enough to him to read the tag. Hiby had told me his collar had come off and that's why the woman who had him didn't contact me. He was found to the east, she told me to put up posters in the northwest. I'm sorry, but I no longer believe in Hiby's ability. I do believe this can be done and to that end, I've been reading every book I can find on the subject. If you want to know how to do this, the best book I've read so far is Amelia Kinkade's "Straight from the Horses Mouth." The whole book, almost every single page, is instruction or background on how to do this.

This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
What a delightful book! Lydia is a gifted woman, who shares her insights about animals with great candor and simplicty. This book is a compelling read, and shows us how we can all be better in tune with our animal companions. Although I am not an animal communicator, I thank the heavens for people like Lydia who can offer me help when my own conversations with my animals are less than clear. Thank you, Lydia!

A reintroduction to our first language.,

This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
What an awakening Ms Hiby's book provided me. She can help us all regain some basics from our earliest childhood. There's a whole world of communication and thought going on among the animals, and we miss most of it because we've grown up parroting what we were told..."they can't talk", "we don't really hear them". Well, fortunatly for me, Lydia Hiby in her simple, honest, and loving book, has reopened my mind and 'ears'. I DO remember talking with dogs and cats and cows and ducks and pigs when I was a little girl on my folks' farm. It was just part of life. That WAS my first language. Then I went to elementary school and all my focus was shifted to humans and what I now consider my second language...English. So, as I read her book and absorbed each additional example of the compassion, and understanding that the non-human creatures have of our limited and egocentric species, I remembered. The very simple awareness that reopens this 'hidden world' for us was pointed out by this lovely book, and generously shared by this talented author and communicator. I'm thankful and enriched.

A wonderful guide into the possibilities within all of us!,
By Isabel Pomphrey (Redondo Beach, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
This book is written from the heart! The experiences are insightful and moving. It opens the mind to the potential within us to deepen our bond not only with our own companions, but with all animals on this planet. The techniques outlined are the building blocks to develop the "communicator" inside us all. Lydia and her book have opened a new world for me. She has dedicated her life to her gift and has inspired me to follow in her footsteps. Everyone has their own talent and path and none of us is perfect. It is through our humanity that we learn and grow every day. This book has made a monumental difference in my life and has taught me that all is possible if you come from a loving place in your heart!

Views from another animal communicator,
By Janet (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations with Animals: Cherished Messages and Memories as Told by an Animal Communicator (Paperback)
Conversations with Animals is as honest as my friend and mentor, Lydia Hiby. Unlike some other books on this subject that I have read, Lydia acknowledges the influence of her (and my) teacher, Beatrice Lydecker, and passes on the wisdom that Bea shared with so many people. Lydia also lets us know that her communication skills developed because of great effort on her part. ESP is not a magical, unique ability only a few of us have. Everyone has sixth (and more) senses, and Lydia does not exhalt herself above anyone else, despite the celebrity status she has achieved. Lydia is a humble, real person who is concerned with the welfare of her fellow beings and she expresses this attitude nicely in her book. If we read this book carefully, we can glean good instruction and inspiration from it. I certainly am honored to include Conversations with Animals in my animal communications books library.
