Book Description

October 1, 2002
Robyn Elizabeth Welch claims to be the only known person in the world with the ability to see inside the human body and its energy field, and to intuitively repair both to full well-being. Working completely hands-free, her insight enables her to harness powerful energy and direct it to heal the afflicted body parts. She explains how she feels she can actually communicate with the individual body parts and understand their response. This is her extraordinary life-story, from first recognition of her own abilities and the curing of her own tumour, through to the development of her healing experiences and her high success rate. It is also her guide to complete health, through insights into the working of energy and how to work towards well being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative, October 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Conversations with the Body (Paperback)
A great read; like sitting on the lounge and chatting to the author. The information offered to the reader is challenging. We are told that we have the ability to heal ourselves. The author guides us through the process of her healing methods using her own recovery experiences from extensive trauma (severe car accident)as an example of the healing abilities of the body. There are also many examples given of people who have worked with the author and have found their bodies responding positivley to her healing methods. I have no real understanding of how or why this works, but it does. I have had physical trauma healed by the process described in the book. It truley is amazing

3.0 out of 5 stars Unique healing ability working with the energy field, November 28, 2008
This review is from: Conversations with the Body (Paperback)
Robyn claims she has the ability to see and manipulate the human energy field and to view inside the body and communicate with sick and unappreciated body parts to assist them in returning to health. The majority of the book is biographical, and it is well written, moving the reader quickly through her life stages, accidents, emotional upsets and lessons, and how her healing ability has grown over the years. The book includes case studies of people with various conditions she has healed and what caused them, including the emotional or mental imbalance.

Throughout the book Robyn expresses her inability to accept money in exchange for her services, a view influenced by the religious view that such talents are god-given gifts and thus tainted by association with "filthy lucre." Such healers are unable to devote their vocational time and energy to healing, but must instead struggle to pay their bills and sacrifice their free time to healing. What a waste of a so-called gift.

The book includes a couple chapters of dubious advice on health, diet, exercise, attitude, etc., advice that I would take with a grain of salt. Some advice is common and positive: get exercise, eat fruits and vegetables, avoid negativity, be happy, etc. But I don't agree with some of her advice, such as eating 4 cloves of garlic a day, drinking 8 glasses water, consuming epsom salts, using a castor oil body wrap.

She writes: "Judicious use of alcohol can relax the digestive system and help it perform well." Before you nod your head in agreement (perhaps because you enjoy judicious use of alcohol), explain to me exactly how a digestive system is relaxed? By its nature, digestion is the energy-intensive operation of digestive organs driven by the parasympathetic nervous system. How can alcohol make it perform well? If you need alcohol to relax, you've got a spiritual problem.

On the contrary:

"Alcohol inhibits the breakdown of nutrients into usable molecules by decreasing secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas. Alcohol impairs nutrient absorption by damaging the cells lining the stomach and intestines and disabling transport of some nutrients into the blood..."

Even if nutrients are digested and absorbed, alcohol can prevent them from being fully utilized by altering their transport, storage, and excretion. [...]

And I guess we'll just have to take her word for it that "Emotionally, colons feel unwanted if they are not fed meat." Maybe this is true, but unless you, too, can talk to a colon, belief in this statement calls for faith.

She definitely has her own theories and beliefs, and she has had a challenging life for which her endurance and fortitude are commendable, so this is a good book if you're interested in such. But the book serves mostly as personal biography of a woman with a very rare method of healing, and as such has limited applicability or appeal. The book does serve as an excellent marketing vehicle uniting potential customers with this healer.

Robyn demonstrates in her book that miracles can and do happen when one is open to healing. An incredible journey by a gifted healer.
