Book Description

Conversations With God December 1, 2007
Suppose you could ask God the most puzzling questions about existence, and God would provide clear, understandable answers? It happened to Neale Donald Walsch. Conversations with God is Walsch's account of his direct conversations with God, beginning in 1992 while he was immersed in a period of deep depression. He composed a letter to God in which he vented his frustrations, and much to his surprise, even shock, God answered him.

Focusing on the universal truths that influence all life, Conversations with God offers an insight into the way life could be better and challenges us to push past the imagined boundaries of what we believe ourselves capable, looking instead to all that we can attain as co-creators with God.

In this audiobook, the author reads his questions, and two noted actors contribute spirited performances as the voice of God. Unabridged. 8 CDs.

About the Author

Neale Donald Walsch is a writer of internationally best-selling books on spirituality and personal development. His books have sold more than 7.5 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 37 languages. His inspiring life story was also adapted into the feature film Conversations with God in 2006. Walsch lives in Ashland, Oregon.

Actor Edward Asner is known for his Emmy-winning role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and later continued in a spinoff series, Lou Grant.

Ellen Burstyn's career has encompassed more than forty years on stage, in film, and on television. She's been nominated six times for an Academy Award, winning for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, and a Tony Award-winner for Same Time, Next Year. She is co-president of the Actors Studio in New York.

From AudioFile

During a bleak period of his life, Walsch sat down to write some questions for God. Surprisingly, God answered by guiding Walsch to write His responses. In the audio production of his bestseller, Walsch reads these questions, and actors Edward Asner and Ellen Burstyn answer as the voice of God. WalschÕs voice, coupled with AsnerÕs masculine, commanding performance, makes the dialogue come off sounding hokey and contrived. Casting such a stereotypical sounding actor as God seems to undermine WalschÕs assertion that God isnÕt patriarchal or human. BurstynÕs performance meshes better with the bookÕs message, but only previous converts will wholeheartedly believe what Walsch and ÒGodÓ have to say. This is unfortunate since WalschÕs message of unconditional love and tolerance is refreshing. J.T. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my favorite book!, March 12, 2002
I have been through Book One several times (I have both the book and the CD collection). More than any book I have ever read, this work provides answers to a multiplicity of difficult questions. I view myself as functioning at a higher level ever since first reading the series three years ago. I had an opportunity to ask Deepak Chopra, live on PBS, his opinion of this book; his answer: "Truly channeled directly from God!" The quality of the CD set is excellent. The choice of Ed Asner and Ellen Burstyn was inspired (Ellen never ceases to amaze). This set is a good investment since many people are likely to want to hear the entire book repeatedly!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Contemplation About "Conversations.", May 2, 2000
This is a masterpiece in modern thinking! As I listened to this book I finally realized that I was not the only person who found the little faults in human thinking and behavior, organized religion and government. The philosophies put forth in this book reflect exactly the philosophies of the common person but with one difference...the common person can feel it and act upon it but Mr. Walsch puts it into words for the first time. I have recommended this book time and time again to others and every time I get the same response...I thought I was the only one! I recommend this book highly to anyone who has an interest in living a correct life and has questions that you instinctivly know the answer to but want some kind of confirmation. Good reading!

I have, and read, the book. But, like vitamins, all great inspirational teachings need to ingested daily to be effective. I don't live the lifestyle to allow me to do this daily with the book. So, Neale and I are on the road daily!

An added bonus is: the last time someone read a book to me I had feeties on my pajamas!!
