5.0 out of 5 stars Conversations with God- book 1 volume 1, June 5, 2000

These tapes -Book 1 volume 1 - changed my life. I listen to these tapes over and over again. I have always had many questions about life and why life? These tapes have explained so much to me that I wish they were a requirement before one could graduate from high school or college. These tapes are THAT good! I thank Neale Walsch for giving me the oppurtunity to listen to these tapes. If you only listen to one set of tapes in your life make these be them, they will make you THINK. A must for life, a must for living.

1.0 out of 5 stars HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, November 9, 1997
By A Customer
My husband and I have listened to each of the six tapes (Book 1) a minimum of 15 times. Looking over the reviews I appreciate all the 10's but looked for and enjoyed all the 1+'s - just for the laughs. So I rated the book 1 so you would find my comments if you were also looking for a laugh. We have a 20 year old brain injured son now three years post accident. He is still non-verbal and totally dependent - in a nursing home. CWG has allowed us to look at life in such a different way and given us lots to think about. And we already have plenty. The bottom line, however, is that you can call anything good or bad. Anything. But the next minute that "description" can change. And if you're not ready, you'll be turned upside down. There are so many "good" things that have happened since our son's accident that could NEVER have happened otherwise. Yep, there are lots of difficulties too. It all comes together though. And depending on how you view it, you CAN change your life today - no matter who you are and what you type of life you are living. It's just plain ole love. Just send it out. Keep on remembering and just send it out. The fun has just begun. Peace, harmony, laughter and love to you all.

I was very touched by the first half of Conversations with God, and I would give this first half five stars. I truly felt connection and truth--God speaking to my heart. I especially loved the soothing tones of Ellen Burstyn's voice as God. Gosh, would I love to hear that voice the next time I need a shoulder to cry on--or someone to laugh with! (Auntie Ellen!) Most of the first half of Conversations with God primarily dealt with basic questions and truths, I think in a direct and beautiful way. Unfortunately, the second half brought me back to Earth, and I would chose to give it only a star or two. First of all, God sounded rather contemptuous of humans. I found this a bit depressing(!) Also, I was painfully aware of Neale Donald Walsch's ego in the way of any message. Who the heck cares "exactly how many" lives NDW has lived? He also obviously feels guilty about "taking money for doing God's work." I wished he would have dealt with that problem in private. It made me think he's a bit of a wienie. Oh, and the part about alcohol not being a substance that should be ingested by humans. If that were so, why are our bodies able to metabolize ethyl alcohol? What about alcohol dehydrogenase? It's a sure bet Neale Donald Walsch has never tasted a 1989 Chateau Latour--surely proof of the existence of God! Still, I think this a worthwhile, though flawed, work.
