Conversations with God- book 1 volume 1,
By SARAH FREY (OHIO, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations With God : An Uncommon Dialogue, Book One, Audio Volume I (Audio Cassette)
These tapes -Book 1 volume 1 - changed my life. I listen to these tapes over and over again. I have always had many questions about life and why life? These tapes have explained so much to me that I wish they were a requirement before one could graduate from high school or college. These tapes are THAT good! I thank Neale Walsch for giving me the oppurtunity to listen to these tapes. If you only listen to one set of tapes in your life make these be them, they will make you THINK. A must for life, a must for living.

My husband and I have listened to each of the six tapes (Book 1) a minimum of 15 times. Looking over the reviews I appreciate all the 10's but looked for and enjoyed all the 1+'s - just for the laughs. So I rated the book 1 so you would find my comments if you were also looking for a laugh. We have a 20 year old brain injured son now three years post accident. He is still non-verbal and totally dependent - in a nursing home. CWG has allowed us to look at life in such a different way and given us lots to think about. And we already have plenty. The bottom line, however, is that you can call anything good or bad. Anything. But the next minute that "description" can change. And if you're not ready, you'll be turned upside down. There are so many "good" things that have happened since our son's accident that could NEVER have happened otherwise. Yep, there are lots of difficulties too. It all comes together though. And depending on how you view it, you CAN change your life today - no matter who you are and what you type of life you are living. It's just plain ole love. Just send it out. Keep on remembering and just send it out. The fun has just begun. Peace, harmony, laughter and love to you all.

I was very touched by the first half of Conversations with God, and I would give this first half five stars. I truly felt connection and truth--God speaking to my heart. I especially loved the soothing tones of Ellen Burstyn's voice as God. Gosh, would I love to hear that voice the next time I need a shoulder to cry on--or someone to laugh with! (Auntie Ellen!) Most of the first half of Conversations with God primarily dealt with basic questions and truths, I think in a direct and beautiful way. Unfortunately, the second half brought me back to Earth, and I would chose to give it only a star or two. First of all, God sounded rather contemptuous of humans. I found this a bit depressing(!) Also, I was painfully aware of Neale Donald Walsch's ego in the way of any message. Who the heck cares "exactly how many" lives NDW has lived? He also obviously feels guilty about "taking money for doing God's work." I wished he would have dealt with that problem in private. It made me think he's a bit of a wienie. Oh, and the part about alcohol not being a substance that should be ingested by humans. If that were so, why are our bodies able to metabolize ethyl alcohol? What about alcohol dehydrogenase? It's a sure bet Neale Donald Walsch has never tasted a 1989 Chateau Latour--surely proof of the existence of God! Still, I think this a worthwhile, though flawed, work.

An amazing experience you really don't want to miss. I've listened to the whole set of tapes (18 in all, I believe) at least four times now, and some of the individual tapes over and over. I can't convey to you how much this book means to me. The voices of Ellen Burstyn and Ed Asner bring the "God" dialogues to life. And Walsch is one of the best at reading his own work. If ever there was a book on philosophy that you should take a look at, it's book one. At least listen to the definition of reality. When you get to book two, keep an open mind. The political stuff is a bit weird, but there are some gems of philosophy to think about in there. And when you get to book three, it can be -- well, life-changing. There aren't enough stars to rate this series. Wow!.

God answers man's most troubling questions.,
By Belinda Martel (HestiaBlue@aol.com) (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations With God : An Uncommon Dialogue, Book One, Audio Volumes 1-3 (Audio Cassette)
Conversations With God, Book One is the personal expose of the author, Neale Donald Walsch, who after having suffered disappointment upon disappointment in all areas of his life writes an angry letter to God composed of questions, and to his surprise receives an answer. In the course of the conversation Neale poses probing questions dealing with the issues of money, personal relationships, religion, guilt, fear - life as we know it. Some, if not all of the questions asked have troubled each one of us at one point or another. The answers are simple, eye-opening, and replete with humor and honesty. Most importantly the answers are not just relevant to the author, but to every member of the human race. Following the guidelines given in this book can cause a global shift, creating a world devoid of fear, and resplendent in peace, love, and sheer joy - the world and type of existence that God has intended for us all along. Reading Conversations With God, Book One is an, inspiring, moving, life changing experience.

I had heard that this book was not inline with true Christianity and that is right. I didn't have to hear very much of what the author was saying to know that this book does NOT have a conversation with God, but with Satan. I will be praying that gullible people don't fall for this. Read your Bible and know what it says.
Glad I only wasted 99 cents and will promptly place this author's work in the trash.

Too Many Interviews,
This review is from: Conversations With God : An Uncommon Dialogue, Book One, Audio Volumes 1-3 (Audio Cassette)
I have read Conversation with God (CwG) and teach it to all that want to hear me. I hold CwG study groups and give Book 1 away to anyone that will accept a copy. I love the truths that I read in the book, I like feeling if in someway I helped write the book CwG and that what it teaches is an unconditional loving source that even Adolph Hitler has been forgiven.
The tapes are atrocious, Just when I get into listening to the narrative someone has to be interviewed. Then you listen to their point of view for about 30 minutes and then the begining of the book is repeated over and over again. I finally got sick of listening to Neal Donald Walsch droning about how he decided to write the book and how he did it over and over again until I wanted to burn the tapes. The guy who produced these tapes is an idiot and should be banned from doing interviews forever. I wanted to listen to the tapes without any interruptions but NOOOOO! I have listen to another crappy interview about the book. And then listen again to Neal repeating himself about how he wrote the book again and again and again. That's it folks... I found that someone else has recorded another rendition of Book 1 again. Thank God it wasn't Ed Asner who narrated or I would have shot myself. Oh well! Blessings to you all, Grandfather

Perfect Book, Perfect Dialog, Perfect Answers,

This review is from: Conversations With God : An Uncommon Dialogue, Book One, Audio Volumes 1-3 (Audio Cassette)
This book explains all the ultimate questions like, "Why are we here?", "Why God created us?", "What is the purpose of our lives?"..It answers all these questions in such simplicity that everyone can understand.. It "reminds" you how to "hear" God; in what ways he/she can reach you.. Personally, my religion is Muslim, I beleive that the world is going to a direction that people are understanding that "religion" does NOT MATTER anymore! We all beleive in the same supreme power, isn't "that" the being that created all religions? So, how can there be any difference between a Muslim or a Christian??? I honestly beleive deep inside that religion is not important, the important thing is to beleive that a supreme being exists (whatever the name may be, God, Allah etc..)and moreover, all people MUST understand the reason of their existance in this world, to achieve this goal, EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!

Overall, it is a very interesting book.,

Neale Donald Wlash writes a letter to God containing questions which are a result of his frustration. To his surprise, God answers, and thus we have Conversations With God, Book One. The book is written in a question - answer format, where Neale is asking the questions and God is supplying the answers. The questions are typical life questions that everyone has wanted to ask God at some point. However, many of the answers are surprising. The book offers interesting insight in a variety of areas, including religion and sin. I like the point the book implies about relationships between people and God. We all have the capability to conversate with God if we would just slow down and recognize what God is saying to us in our thoughts, life experiences, and through others. One troubling aspect of the book is that the author seems to be writing from a certain religious standpoint, but does not identify which religion. The closest religious expression which matches the thoughts of the author is New-Age spirituality. Overall, the book is very interesting and can help a person awaken to the potential of a having close relationship with God. Yet, the book tends to reveal more about the character of Neale Donald Walsh than the character of God.

I finally have a logical way to explain everything and every question I had about life and death, and God. Before this I was a border-agnostic. What was I thinking. A very powerful series and one that I have been recommending to everyone who will listen!
