It is a book that expresses the need to reinvent oneself. Angelou discovered early that there where no models of beauty for her and that she must create her own. More importantly, she was not defined by plebeian standards of beauty, grace or intelligence. Great book, recommended reading for young artist in America.

Format: Paperback
Interviews with Maya Angelou from the 70's and 80's -- all of them fascinating, and all of them showing her growth as an artist and as an individual over the years. I've been listening to a lot of her work on audio tapes lately, and this historical book of where she's been and what she's had to say about living, writing, politics and more is an excellent addition to absorbing her other words.
