This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
I have read at least 10 other authors or translators/interpreters on the quatrains of Nostradamus. This book and its associated volumes, Volume II and Volume III, are the best books ever written on the great healer. After reading this series on Nostradamus by Dolores Cannon, I went on to read every other book written by her that was still in print. Dolores Cannon has the ability to make complex concepts understandable. In these Volumes on Nostradamus, the translations of the quatrains are from the Master himself. If you need to be convinced, just read the passages regarding the Bush-Gore elections. Remind yourself that the book was originally written in the 1980's. I highly recommend that if you were allowed to read only one author on Nostradamus, then Dolores Cannon must be that author.

Conversations with Nastradamas, Volume I, II, and III,
By Peggy J. Webber (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations with Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
These books are fast reading and very interesting..I have a set signed by the author, Delores Cannon and have attended one of her brief appearances...I am due to see her again in February, but in the mean time I would like to buy a set of three of her books for a British born friend..Volume I's latests Edition was published with addendum in 1997, volume II with revision in 1997 and Voume III, third printing in 1996. Ozark Mountain Publishers, Huntsville Ar. Is it possible to get these printings from Amazon.com? I would like to have them by New Years day for a friend. The most interesting part geographic wise is in Chapter 28 of Volume II, It shows a map of the world after the world shifts on its axis. Volume III show sketches of the "Anti Christ and his Uncle who raised him" It also gives his birthdate and possible area of his birthplace.... They hold many interpretations of the quantrains that were interpreted before the events took place that you can confirm. It is really amazing. I highlighted the places in the book I might want to go back to for second readings..Very interesting reading. Thank You grannyd@midwest.net

Predictions coming true?,
By Car (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
Read all three volumes a few years ago at the library, then bought the books because they were not only interesting but poetic, historic, funny, dramatic, science, science fiction, metaphysical, spritual, frightening, shocking, everything all rolled up in one.My books right now are in storage, but I remember one quatrain in the second or third volume that pertained to an election that ended up in a tie. Delores Cannon interpreted it to the election of Jimmy Carter's campaign/election. Nostradamus said the words "Hung Jury", etc. Does anyone, beside myself, see the last election (Gore/Bush) as a "Hung Jury"? Write back if you think so. Sincerely, Car

Offers profound insight into Nostradamus & Millenium events,
By A Customer
This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
This set of three books describe convincing and I believe genuine psychic contact with Nostradamus. In the books, he communicates through Cannon's hypnotically regressed subjects, and says he arranged these contacts to explain to us the true meaning of his quatrains, because many of them pertain to our time. The prophecies described in these books are in alignment with others (Mary Summer Rain, Cayce, etc) but they go further and offer profound insight into the spiritual realm and into the cataclysmic events about to take place in our world. These books changed me deeply and I recommend them to anyone on the spiritual path or who are concerned about millenial events.

GREAT Book!,

This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
This book is great, it has a lot of information about Nostradamus and his prophecies, and it tells the truth as it is.
It all starts when Dolores Cannon regressed an average woman to one of her past lives, eventually to find out that she was a student of Nostradamus! During later regressions, Nostradamus speaks indirectly to Dolores to uncover his confusing prophecies so that he can warn mankind! whoever wrote the 1 star review obviously hasn't read the book

Exciting, enjoyable and informative but a bit on the gloomy side,

This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
Dolores Cannon is an exciting author whom I've just recently come across. She regresses her clents to past lives and thereby gains access to amazing and invaluable information. In this, the first of three books on her meeting with the famous seer, Cannon regresses a client to a life as a student of Nostradamus, and is then contacted by the man himself, who needs her to write this book in order to provide humanity with explanations about the true meaning of his quatrains. Owing to his persecution by the Inquisition, Nostradamus felt obliged to disguise his messages to the extent that they were extremely difficult to decipher, and, additionally, modern-day interpreters have contributed to misrepresenting their true meaning.
One amazing feature of this communication was that Nostradamus was talking to us directly from his time (16th century) to ours through the centuries - it was not his "dead" spirit communicating to Cannon. I found this book fascinating, and the first part to be immensely readable. Later when Cannon, Nostradamus, her subject and a young astrologer she finds to aid them, begin to analyze the quatrains, one by one, the going gets a bit heavy, and the book becomes slightly less readable. (I know some French so I was ploughing through them in N's 16th century French, too.) Nostradamus wishes to warn us of the true meaning of his prophecies, since we are now rapidly approaching an extremely difficult time in history, and he realizes that if we are aware of what may transpire if we do not heed his warnings we will be enabled to take a different path and thus avert the worst scenarios. He proves to be a bit of a character, who doesn't hold back on expressing his personal views and scolds Cannon for her poor education and lack of knowledge of classical literature. It turns out that his quatrains generally have multiple meanings, thus referring to at least two historical episodes occurring in different periods, which factor has contributed to the difficulties interpreting his meaning. Many of N's predictions about present-day events, once explained, can be seen to have been accurate. For example, he predicts the Bush/Gore election in the year 2000, describing it as a "hung jury". (This took place subsequent to the period in the 80's when these conversations with N were taking place.) He discusses the earth changes - earthquakes, volcanoes and extremes of weather that are plaguing us in these present years. Much of the book is taken up with interpretation of quatrains about the Anti-Christ. N explains that there have been two previous Amti-Christs, Napoleon and Hitler. The present (or future) one is a "black" person from the Middle East who will attempt to take over the entire world, with much success. However, according to N, he should have appeared by now, and I personally certainly can't identify him, but I admit I don't have much knowledge of politics or world affairs. Perhaps Mankind by its development and actions has changed its future and thus avoided, or restricted the power of, this malevolent human being. N makes some dire predictions for what he terms "the time of troubles" and we know from other sources (the Mayan prophecies) that we will experience extremely difficult times leading up to the culmination of the period at the end of 2012. But other sources again indicate that our fate need not be so extreme since a significant proportion of mankind has undergone the necessary development, and 2012 should instead be regarded as a time of necessary transformation both for mankind and our planet, Gaia. The book also contains many interesting predictions for the more peaceful periods in subsequent centuries, including the advent of "the great genius" who provides mankind with many beneficial inventions. This is an immensely interesting and informative work though a bit on the gloomy side, but I would strongly recommend it nevertheless, as long as it is remembered tht N's prophecies do not need to come true, and in fact some of them have not, The author's grammar, spelling and powers of expression are not all that could be desired, thus I've given the book only 4 stars. But of course it is the information revealed and our enjoyment of the encounter with Nostradamus that are important.

One never knows what to expect from a book on the seer. This book brings him to life. A bit dated now, and much did not happen when expected, however, as humanity makes more enlightened choices, one would expect the forecast disasters to be postponed, avoided or ameliorated, so it still makes a valuable read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this wonderful author.

I would respectfully ask Ms. Cannon to get back on the horn with Nostradamus and explain why the predicted apocalypse of 1998 (flooding caused by nuclear testing, apparently) did not occur, without using the "alternative futures" escape. Still, I respect Cannon, who doesn't spread the virulent anti-Catholicism of many other Nostradamus interpreters.

The Problems With Prophecy and Predictions,
This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
I read all three of the Conversation with Nostradamus books by Dolores Cannon years ago while I was in my mid 20's. At the time I didn't have that much spiritual knowledge and was looking for answers. The problem with Mrs. Cannon's predictions is that they are really no more or less valid than anyone else's. The book here postulates a possible future if we believe in it. Unfortunately, from what I remember about these books, the future is one in which vast sections of the planet are destroyed by "Earthshift" while all of us are harassed by evil figures such as the "third antichrist". Is this the future we are choosing to create by believing in Nostradamus and other "end time" prophecies? As much as I appreciate a good story, I would rather choose to believe in something other than the nightmares suggested in this book for billions of people on this planet. It is basically a choice. If you choose to believe that the rest of the next 20 years is going to be of war, death, disease, annihilation, and destruction because someone choose to believe in an antichrist that was outside of themselves, then we surely can count ourselves as failures. This is a book shows us the potential failure of consciousness of humanity to rid ourselves of the myth that the old religions including Nostradamus worship have offered us as a reality. As an alternative I would suggest loving your neighbor, knowing the difference between good and evil, and staying away from prophets bearing ill news. A sound mind is a better defense than feeding the paranoia and myths about antichrists and ridiculous earth shift scenarios. A lack of a scientific mind creates these ridiculous fantasies. You can create the world you desire if you believe in it, which means what you believe IS your reality. Sorry, but spending the rest of my life watching the world destroy itself because of a few idiotic beliefs in fatalistic prophecy is not something I choose. Don't feed the paranoia, forget Nostradamus and the rest of the insanity we have invented as a means of avoiding the simple reality that we can choose which world we live in. Are you human or just a puppet on a string? You can choose to give your power to ridiculous ideas which don't really serve your purposes (like destroying the planet and people for fun in your imagination or in physical reality). For the majority of people, these scenarios will always be seen for what they are: fantasies of a fantastic imagination. Wonderful, but in the future I would recommend that Mrs. Cannon and the rest of you would be psychic investigators remember that you could just as easily have created a scenario in your imagination that actually involved us living in a wonderful paradise healing the planet in the year 2020. A psychic gift is not an invitation to receive every negative thought in the universe and pour it out of your soul for others to see and believe in, it exists exactly for the opposite reason of creating a better future by using your psyche to develop a better vision instead of just letting the darkness win in your own imagination. Imagine a better future. That's just my suggestion. You can pick or choose though. Antichrist destroying hundreds of millions of lives because you thought it was cool to put him in the story or a peaceful planet that revolves around love and life instead of money and death. I know what I am voting for. Its just as easy as choosing to believe in a new vision. Last time I checked, a happy future sure beat world war III as an experience.

Through Time and Space We Go,

This review is from: Conversations With Nostradamus: His Prophecies Explained, Vol. 1 (Revised Edition & Addendum 2001) (Paperback)
Never before has a book series struck me with as much intensity, complexity, and humanity as this one. Now, I am not going to say this book is either true or false. I am going to give it a fair evaluation based on what I read in it. The basic plot is this; Upon exploring the past life time of one of her subjects, Elena, Dolores Cannon (the author) finds that Elena was a student of Nostradamus (whom I shall nickname Nostra from now on). And Nostra hijacks Elena, so to speak, and tells Dolores that his quatrains are too ambiguous to understand. He needs the quatrains translated in a non-ambiguous way in hopes of helping alleviate the worst of the times humanity will go through. And says he will use her subjects to translate the quatrains. A complex, intricate tale is told as Nostradamus translates the quatrains. Some of these quatrains are about, in our perspective, the past. Others are about our future. What I love about this book is that, unlike other so called prophecy books, it doesn't say "Event X will happen." It more says "Event X will happen because A, B, and C." I found this book to be very rewarding solely for explaining causes/effects in the world. Fair warning, this book is very negative and is not for the faint of heart. Nostra wanted to give us the worst case scenario. The reason is that Nostra, in the first book, told Dolores that he has no worries about us surviving the good times. He wants us to survive the worst of times. This book can be considered scientific because some parts in it are falsifiable. Some events are said to definitely happen no matter what. Such as the antichrist coming, destruction of the Vatican, and the great genius. So, when we see the Vatican is still standing two popes after the current Pope Benedict, we can definitely go back and call this book bull. Until then, just cross your fingers and hope the book is wrong. Because, if it proves to be accurate, we are in for a rough ride. It got a lot of things wrong but it also got a lot of things right. Considering other prophecy books have a record of getting nothing right, a book that gets many things right is remarkable in itself. Here are some other things about the book you need to know (especially for readers who have already read this): 1) Dates are secondary to causes and effects. Whenever Dolores tries to get a date out of Nostra, which he hesitantly gives, it usually is wrong. Scientists tell people that the volcano might erupt by a certain date. And, when it doesn't, this doesn't make scientists' warnings any less valid. So, for those who denounce this book as incorrect based on the wrong dates; yes the date was wrong but the fact the volcano is nearing eruption is not. 2) For those wondering why such a person as the antichrist hasn't shown up, recall that it was said this person would work secretly in local/regional politics building a "base of power". So, yes, this person would come into power in the 90s, but only on a local/regional level. According to the book, once the Catholic church has the final pope (aka "the tool of the antichrist"), only then would this antichrist get rid of the secrecy aspect. According to the book, we now have the second to last pope. So, of course this person would not appear yet. The timeline is off. With at least three dictators in the middle east recently overthrown, there is now a void of power. Believe me, if there was a time for an antichrist to move from local politics into national politics, it would be now. Oh, and now that the United States withdrew troops from Iraq, there is another void. I bet you a negative person is going to take advantage of that, antichrist or not. Pope John Paul II was said to be assassinated in this book. No, he was never assassinated but there were certainly many assassination attempts on him. John Paul II obviously had information ahead of time or survived from sheer luck (the 1995 incident). Of course, his survival into the early 2000s instead of dying in the 1990s definitely would have delayed the course of events. Of course, let's not forget the other predictions that time proved to be correct in this trilogy series. 3) "There is to be another shuttle disaster. Again there will be loss of life due to an explosion of the launch vehicle." (Volume III pg. 309) This refers to the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster which occurred on February 1, 2003. Also, the space shuttle program finished with its last mission, STS-135 and Atlantis, which came to a conclusion on July 21, 2011, retiring the final shuttle in the fleet and the program. With the retirement of the space shuttle program, there is no possible way that a third or more space shuttle disaster could occur. Therefore, this prophecy was fulfilled. 4) "I saw the sky, and then I was looking down on the Middle East area...I see this as a revolution. Unrest in one country that leads to others. It starts off slowly and snowballs. It is in the Middle East." (Volume III pg. 174) This has to refer to the Tunisian Revolution that has spread to other Arab nations in 2011. This, in turn, lead to the Arab Spring revolution. When I saw Tunisians protesting and revolting, I used this part of the book to predict a larger revolution. And I was disturbed when I was right. 5) Of course, as others have pointed out, the hung jury elections in 2000 were another accurate prediction. I would add far more but this review has gone on for too long. |
