Book Description

August 1, 1999
Susan Watkins, close friend of Jane Roberts- one of the most respected psychics of the twentieth century- attended Roberts's ESP class from 1968 to 1975. Throughout the years, Watkins and her fellow classmates asked themselves and Seth, the entity who spoke through Roberts, difficult questions regarding personal reality. Faced with incidents of serious illness, painful relationships, financial hardship, and natural catastrophes they challenged Seth's repeated statement that we each "create our own reality."

In addition to being a well-written, highly entertaining historical account of the late Jane Roberts and of the class- with its diverse members, raucous atmosphere, and sometimes heated arguments- Conversations With Seth reveals the profound insights that individual class members and the group as a whole discovered over time: insights into the origin of both the troubling and triumphant events in our lives and insights into the vast nature of human consciousness.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Conversations with Seth is a must-read for anyone exploring the theory that we each create our own reality. Even Seth's most esoteric theories were put to practice by Sue and her fellow classmates and, as a resulted, illustrated beautifully! -- Lynda Dahl, award-winning author of Beyond the Winning Streak and The Wizards of Consciousness, president of Seth Network International

For me, the Seth material provides a bridge between science and spirituality. Conversations with Seth helps to illuminate, in a very personal way, the complexities of the material. -- Norman Friedman, author of Bridging Science and Spirit, and The Hidden Domain

In Conversations with Seth Sue Watkins captures the excitement of the discovery, the controversy, and the hilarity that was Jane's class. The questions we asked, the issues we explored, are timeless- as relevant and revolutionary today as ever. -- Rich Kendall, former class member

Susan Watkins has accomplished an immeasurable task in chronicling the time she spent in the company of Jane Roberts and Seth, who together produced one of the most amazing bodies of metaphysical literature of our time. She tells the story from the point of view of the novice and so takes us with her as we discover the "Seth" within us all. Reading her book is the next best thing to having actually been there ourselves. -- Fred Alan Wolf, American Book-Award Winning author of Taking the Quantum Leap and The Spiritual Universe

From the Publisher

Susan Watkins is a natural storyteller. As one reviewer said, reading Conversations is the next best thing to having attended Roberts's class yourself. It's a fun and challenging read; and, after the experience, you'll never look at yourself, the events of your life, or the world around you in the same way again.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Workbook, February 19, 2001
This review is from: Conversations With Seth (Combined Volumes 1 & 2) (v. 1 & 2) (Paperback)
(This review refers to Volumes I & II separately.) For those of us who read a lot of Seth, these books are a great relief. They present an emotional reality of the Seth material that most people will warm to more readily than the dictated books, such as "Nature of Personal Reality." The people in Jane's ESP classes worked with the material in the same way many of us do, though probably more methodically. Sue does an excellent job of welcoming the Seth reader into the class, providing a virtual support group of sorts, though I use that term very loosely! I can see individuals struggling with the concepts and their own personal implementations. Their stories are examples of how to interpret one's own in Sethian terms, aided by generous feedback from Seth.

And my Self has been quite active in using the "Conversations" books to teach "me" about the synchronicity of time. Often with these books, I'll read a passage that directly relates to something I said or experienced the day before. For instance, once in searching around for the fish-ness of myself after eating a tremendous tuna steak, I had an alteration of consciousness where I was a solitary fish swimming in the ocean. The next day, I read in "Conversations" Seth saying, "I am a fish who swims through realities." This is just one such example.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that I recommend this book very highly?

5.0 out of 5 stars An invaluable guide to Seth, October 11, 2001

This review is from: Conversations With Seth (Combined Volumes 1 & 2) (v. 1 & 2) (Paperback)
I have read Sue's original volumes and had been hoping ever since that they may be reprinted. My wish has come true.
Sue's contributions to understanding the Seth material and how it came about is invaluable because she puts matters in to a relevant, down-to-earth context. This facilitates the reader's approach to Seth's insights immensly.
Mental fogs lift, intellectual mists disperse, and all of a sudden you can see the landscape; and the trees in the wood stand out clearer than before.
I am thoroughly recommending this book along with Jane's material to everyone of my own readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars New edition of a great read, December 20, 2000

This review is from: Conversations With Seth (Combined Volumes 1 & 2) (v. 1 & 2) (Paperback)
I first came across this book 20 years ago when it was in 2 volumes. Now with a photo insert and some updating to it, it's an even better introduction to the Seth material than it was way back then. I recommend this to everyone interested in the books of Jane Roberts. Sue Watkins knows how to write the way people talk, and the way people asked questions of the Seth ideas --and the way Seth answered them (not glib, like new-age type junk usually is) --makes for a story you can't put down.It shows Jane Roberts the person, too-- again not what you might expect.
