Conversations that get Results and Inspire Collaboration is now my favorite business book. I thought I already knew all there was to know about successful collaboration, but the numerous examples Shawn included in this book made me see where I had failed to collaborate effectively with certain peers and managers in my past. I realize now that as the person who wanted a different outcome, in those situations I should have taken the initiative to adapt to the many different styles and workplace motivators of my peers. The order of topics in the book is brilliant -starting with the basics of Preferred Communication Styles, Workplace Motivators, all the way through the right types of conversation to engage. I wish everyone would read this book so we can eliminate unnecessary conflict while working together!

This book is packed with insights and tips on how to relate to others, resolve conflicts and work together. I highly recommend this book to any business professional who is looking for help in dealing with tough situations or anyone looking to simply be more effective in the workplace. This book is not just for upper management, either. Personally, I'm not in management, but Hayashi's tips have already paid dividends for me and helped be more successful by being better able to relate to and communicate with my customers, colleagues and boss.

As organizations, communities and even our own families and circles of friends become more complex, it's increasingly clear that the key to being an effective leader or personal contributor is the ability to collaborate well. Shawn Kent Hayashi is a master at teaching us how to evaluate the communication styles and motivations of those we work with -- and then using that assessment to create results-oriented communication and collaboration. These principles come into play whether you are working with a single colleague or a group, and whether you are managing a team or managing up. As with Shawn's previous two books, her in-person seminars and her webinars, Conversations That Get Results and Inspire Collaboration is filled with practical information, insightful analysis and useful real-world examples. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to increase their personal effectiveness and level of achievement.

Shawn Hayashi understands that business success is the result of people working together to achieve their goals. She shows us that success is not the province of a few people who know a secret formula. On the contrary, her book, Conversations that Get Results and Inspire Collaboration, provides practical tools that anyone can use to create success in any endeavor that involves another human being. This is a must read book.
