This review is from: Converse Work Women's PGS Hi Top Work Shoe (Apparel)
When I first got these boots, I was going to rate them 2 stars. I would have returned them, but I had already worn them.
I work in a garage/shop and was needing new work shoes. I saw these online and kinda liked the style, it's a little bit different than the usual clunky non-aesthetic work boot. You MUST break these boots in. The boots themselves are comfortable, but the high top will rub the back of your legs/ankle (unless you're a tall woman with longer legs I guess. I'm only 5'2"). My legs felt bruised for like a week. HIGHLY recommend crew socks while wearing these. But after a week or so of wearing them, it doesn't hurt.
I bought them in wide because I have wide feet :o( and they were perfect, toes and feet were quite comfortable. I like how the bottom soles are flat like the classic Converse because your feet are less likely to eventually 'roll' to the side. My shoes in the past had a tendency to wear to one side which caused more strain on the outer part of my feet because of the tilt. The flat soles give good grip and balance when I'm pushing against/pulling heavy equipment.
I like the rubber toe shell because that is where I usually get scuffs and oil/chemicals on my shoes. It makes the toe area more durable and easy to clean. The leather is also easy to wipe down. Grime has a tendency to get caught in the lines on the bottom of the shoe, but you can take care of that with a hose or a blow gun. I switched out the original insole with Dr. Scholl's insoles.
Aside from the initial discomfort of the high top, these boots have been pretty comfortable to wear and work in.
