4.0 out of 5 stars Australia - hopes and dreams, November 29, 2006
This review is from: Convict Chains (Idol Series) (Paperback)
When, in 1837, the young typesetter Peter Warren is seduced by and falls in love with pretentious Richard Barkworth, it is just the beginning of a nightmare journey. Mistakenly accused as a result of a situation Barkworth puts him in, and then convicted he is sentenced to transportation to Australia. On the voyage his good looks do not go unnoticed, and he is soon on the receiving end of the attentions of among others the Captain's despised nephew, which only succeeds in perpetuating his problems. The story continues with his troubles and exploits in Australia.
Throughout there is ample sex and master/slave action, both forced and voluntary. It is well written in a somewhat detached style, which conveys a slight period fell and which helps to accentuate the erotic aspect. It is much more than an erotic read though; there is also contained a story of true love and devotion, and an interesting epilogue bringing the story to 1998.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising ending and good story, February 25, 2008
By
We start in 1837 England where a young man, Peter Warren, is falsely accused of a crime and sent to Australia. On board ship his good looks provide sexual entertainment for the sailors.
Peter's life seems out of his control sexually and penal life in a Australia is harsh.
Excellent writing and a good story with eroticsm and true love.I couldn't put it down.
Interesting ending.
