Been looking everywhere for colander this big and I love the 2 I ordered. While I find myself using them almost daily, they are not as sturdy as they appear in photo. The 'screening' is thin and bends easily. OK for straining cooked veggies that are soft and light but if you want to clean fresh veggies and then strain/air dry (i.e., carrots, radishes, celery...anything with a bit of substance), the screening bends and bulges. The base is sturdy and does not tip, the capacity is huge, and it strains nicely. I gave it 5 stars because I do find many uses for it and I like its capacity.

I didn't think I needed a colander this size (I always thought bigger is better, right?) but I couldn't resist for the price that Amazon was offering. I am glad I got it because I use it all the time now! We eat lots of fruit in our house and I've found that this size colander is perfect for rinsing off strawberries, grapes, blueberries, etc. I also love how it has a ring on the bottom to help it sit up so the food doesn't come in direct contact with my sink. The material is a bit flimsy, especially for the 10" size, which I have also, but overall it suits what I need for a great price!

When I purchased this on August 4, it was $5.37 with super saver shipping and the 4 for 3 promotion. I think it was worth that price but no more. At present it is being offered for almost double the price plus shipping on top of that. After seeing and using this, I personally would never pay the current freight. This colander is not exactly delicate, but I certainly would not put something like potatoes in it. It will work just fine for lettuce and other salad items that are not heavy. I just used it to drain shrimp. Using something very heavy will definitely bend this item out of shape if not outright break it. Here is the information from the label: (1) made in China; (2) constructed in stainless (no grade given) for durability; (3) reinforced stainless body with steel bars; (4) easy to clean (does not indicate whether dishwasher safe); (5) 3 year guarantee (no further details); and (6) Cook Pro's mailing address (no website provided). I will revisit this review once I have run this colander through the dishwasher several times.
November 23, 2011 update: Okay, I have run this colander through the dishwasher at least 10 times, and it's still shiny, and there is no sign of rust.

Cook Pro 7-1/2 in Stainless Steel Mesh Colander--Very good quality
This colander does a great job for small amounts. Cleans up very well, being stainless steel. Fits into smaller bowls when washing beans, rice, etc.
