5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and Accurate
This meat thermometer is accurate and simple to use.
For the longest time I used my granny's, but it's lost or misplaced in a box and I bought the closest one to it.
The numbers are large to see without having to take the meat out of the oven, for me that is a big advantage. You slide the red marker to the temperature desired temperature. As long as the oven is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for big pieces of meat, not so much for anything else
This is a simple no nonsense thermometer for big pieces of meat like a turkey, a whole chicken or a big roast. It doesn't work very well for steak or anything thin. It's also best to ignore the temperature suggestions since they are way too high. A rare steak at 140 degrees? Try about 20 degrees cooler.

It's not a fancy or a digital thermometer but it's great and reasonably priced.
With the holidays coming, I plan to use this for my turkey

This thermometer, is easier to see than most. my eyes are going. the pointer is adjustable and easy to tell where temp. is and when it is lined up, without opening the oven door. it says its dishwasher safe, though i dont have one, but being square is nice, because it doesn,t roll off the table.

I only bought this one because the description says dishwasher safe, but the packaging clearly states do not immerse in water and do not put in dishwasher.

It works, but the little arrow that moves kind of rusted up from the dishwasher and there was fog on the inside after that too.

I recently bought this item, carefully washed it, did not submerge it in the water and placed it in the drawer. A few days later I took the thermometer to a friends house to use there. I did not need it, so I left it in my car. Upon returning home and bringing it back into my house to put it away, i noticed IT WAS FOGGED UP and HAD A DROP OF WATER UNDER THE COVER. I would not recommend it, the only thing I can think is that maybe it didn't like the 20 degree temperature change from the house to the car!!! Don't get it. I bought it to replace a 20+ year old Taylor, sadly disappointed.

If you keep tabs on it you won't over cook your roasts and they will taste great (juicy). It does not work well on thin cuts of meat. Water does tend to get into the dial but does not affect how it works.
