PURE JOY,

This review is from: Cook Magic 87108 Talking Microwave Oven Silver
I purchased the Talking microwave by Hamilton Beach for my mother who is blind. She called me when she received it. She was able to demostrate how it "talked" to her by heating up a cup of water step by step. She absolutely LOVED it. I wished I had purchased it sooner. Thank you for making my mother's life a litter easier. It was pure joy.

Talking Microwave Oven,

This review is from: Cook Magic 87108 Talking Microwave Oven Silver
Actually, I bought the Model 87106 just a little over a year ago from Walmart. It was on sale, and good luck getting Hamilton Beach or Cook Magic to help you when there are any mechanical problems. Just after the warranty expired, it started to hum and spark flames when I start it. But all in all, I have to say that I am willing to buy another one, here the Model 87108 because of what it did for my senile, legally blind & elderly mother. She was able to use this appliance to cook for herself. Have you ever noticed how all other models of microwave have the flat, colored panel buttons that cannot be distinguished from one another by touch at all. The colors for where you are supposed to push, to set the time, are useless to blind people. She would wake me up at all hours, asking me to start the microwave for her popcorn or frozen dinner snacks - and I would have to get up to help because it was impossible for her to understand, see or use a regular microwave. When I got this touch button model, with the rotary round button to add time, which can add 30 seconds by a single push of the lighted rotary dial -- she could do it. It talked to her, and I don't know how helpful that was. But, honestly, although it pooped out after a year - it made that year much better for her. Many fewer charcoal popcorn diasters, many more meals she could do by herself, and that made my life a little easier. I think it is essential for any sight impaired person, or elderly persons with concentration problems. Although it took many times telling her how to use it -- she eventually could. Can't beat that. I hope they never stop making this type of item. Disabled people need things geared towards their limitations, to remove limitations in their daily lives. There is nothing more important to an elderly and disabled person like my mom, than being able to cook for herself sometimes.
