5.0 out of 5 stars Talking Microwave is an excellent choice, December 31, 2007

I bought this item for a Christmas gift for my blind husband, and found I love it as well. It is very intuitive and easy to use. The voice is clear, and the volume control is easy to work. The settings are so easy to change and the functions buttons and dial control are all large enough for handicapped hands. I found the settings and timer to be accurate and it cooks beautifully. I could not be happier with this product. I encourage you to buy it if you have a senior, or a handicapped person in your house hold or if you just want an easy to use microwave that is dependable. I am getting another one for my mother.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Regrets, January 3, 2008

As someone who agonizes over decision-making, the purchase of this microwave oven was one of those times I was delighted with my selection. The size is perfect for my everyday solo needs and will also accommodate medium casseroles. Buttons are conveniently located and can be easily distinguished by anyone with low vision or dexterity issues. Operation is simple and I found no need to repeatedly refer back to the instructions. Some functions are not spoken but are tactile; it will still be a pleasant surprise (eliminates frustrating touch screen use/labeling). My only 'con' for this microwave is the turntable can be easily knocked off its fitting when the oven is empty and I found it annoying and tricky setting it back on the track and into the holder. Unfortunately, the microwave quit on me today. Not many warranties extend past 1 yr. so that's just my bad luck and there's no sense whining about it. I've no regrets about choosing this Hamilton Beach model.

I ordered the Cook Magic Talking Microwave from Amazon.com and received it in less than one week. The product works well for people with visual disabilities although you will need some sighted assistance setting up the clock. The buttons are easy to understand and will work well for most applications (heating water, warming a dinner plate). I only gave 4 stars because of the need for assistance with the clock. Otherwise, I would highly recommend for blind or low vision user.

4.0 out of 5 stars great microwave!, July 11, 2010
This review is from: Cook Magic 87106 Talking Microwave Oven Silver
I only gave this a 4 star because I'm on my second one. My other one quit about a year and a half after I bought it. I'm blind and this is the perfect microwave for me. For the functions that don't talk like to set the time other than what is in the presets I just turn the dial and count the clicks, like one turn is one second/one minute, two minutes/two seconds, etc. and, it's a good price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very User Friendly, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Cook Magic 87106 Talking Microwave Oven Silver
I received this as a Christmas present over 2 years ago and it has been working perfectly. The talking feature was actually very helpful in learninghow to use some of the settings uch as defrost, power level, and many of the other controls that I never really knew how to use properly on my old microwave. Now that I know all the controls, I turn the voice off since I don't really need to hear it, which is a nice feature also! The turntable actually broke so I've been looking for a replacement with no luck...it broke because it fell out while moving...but everything else about it is still working great!

5.0 out of 5 stars HB Talking Microwave, May 23, 2011
This review is from: Cook Magic 87106 Talking Microwave Oven Silver
My husband and I bought 6 of these about 3-4 years ago from Walmart when they were called Hamilton Beach. It's the same microwave, different name. They work excellent, but unfortunately, can't seem to find too many places that have them. Amazon seems to be the only place, but are out of stock. Great product!
