I hate to leave a less then good review :( but I just got this book a month ago and I have been trying new recipes from it but have yet to have anything that was good enough to make again. I made the roasted corn and cucumber salad that was OK but not delicious enough to make again, and the same can be said for the tomatillo salsa, and roasted garlic lentil soup. After having not so good results with the recipes I did try, I will most likely not use the cookbook again. I think if you are looking for a healthy cookbook to help you loose weight or eat healthy you would be better off with Tosca Reno's Eat Clean cookbooks, I have had much better luck with those. The presentation of the book and the cute titles make it really fun, I only wish I could say the same for eating the food.

Cook Yourself Sexy is a wonderful cookbook - the recipes are straightforward and totally not intimidating. Unlike many other healthy cookbooks out there, the ingredients are easy to find, and most you probably already have on hand. Love her, love the recipes and love the uplifting intro. I wasn't expecting the cookbook to be empowering - just an added bonus!

I found this while browsing through cook books, having never heard of the author before. I almost didn't pick it up, because I was afraid it would be a diet book, or a supplemental collection of recipes for a low carb, gluten-free, fad of the day diet. What nutritional advice is given is pretty much common sense- eat more whole foods, not as much meat and fat, that sort of thing. The recipes are things that you'd actually want to eat, and they aren't very complicated,so long as your cooking confidence goes beyond mixes and microwaving. There are many Japanese inspired recipes, so if you like Japanese food, this is a great book. There are also some Italian-American meals and general American cuisine.

I was excited to receive this book but when I finally did and went threw the recipes, I wasn't impressed. A lot of the ingredients I needed was not something I would have on a regular basis. Some items I didn't even know where to purchase. I ended up turning around and selling the book on ebay.

This is more of a book to read than a full cookbook. It does have some good looking recipes though.

Based on the preview I thought this cookbook had a lot of potential for a vegetarian on a diet. However, the actual vegetarian and vegan recipes in this are very (VERY) limited.

This is still good for someone who eats meat, but vegetarians would be better off copying down the tiny amount of recipes they can use than spending the money on this.

Recently I saw Candice on the Queen Latifah Show. I was impressed with her immediately, so I decided to try out one of her cookbooks. Once I picked this cookbook up, I couldn't put it down! By far the most inspirational book. Normally when I read cookbooks, I find only a few recipes in them that I feel excited about. This one is different. I am excited about ALL of them! I've only owned this book for a few days and already I've tried 4 recipes. Delicious! I look forward to trying many more! Her concept is so simple. Eat real foods, feel full longer so you don't reach for junk! You automatically feel better and happier when your body is filled with "foods with benefits". I'm now a big fan. I've placed my order for all of her other books, so I am looking forward to reading those as well. She is so beautiful, inside and out. How I look up to her and aspire to be a person just like her! She is an inspiration to all. She makes me proud to be of Japanese heritage too!

I admit that some of these recipes might seem a little more on a foodie's level than on the level of someone just wanting to get started eating healthier but, these are great recipes. The Veggie Gyoza recipe was a huge hit with my carnivorous family. This book offers some really great suggestions for better flavoring while eating healthier. The main focus really is good ingredients. If you haven't ventured out into whole foods territory this is a good way to start. Kumai is lactose intolerant so the recipes don't depend on a lot of dairy products. The ingredients can get a little pricey but, she has alternative suggestions. I really enjoyed changing up the everyday routine in my cooking.
