interesting recipes,
This review is from: Cook Yourself Thin Faster: Have Your Cake and Eat It Too with Over 75 New Recipes You Can Make in a Flash! (Paperback)
According to the introduction, "Cook Yourself Thin" by Lifetime Television is not a diet manual, but a cook book aimed at providing delicious recipes that help you lose weight. The colorful book is divided into sections like Breakfast, Starters, Mains, Sides/Soups/Salads, and Dessert. Each recipe includes the serving size and nutrients information, along with the list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions. About half of the recipes are accompanied by pictures.
Judging from the book's title, I was curious but initially prepared for standard veggie recipes and uninspiring meals that focused more on losing weight than wetting the appetite. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the majority of the recipes sounded exactly as promised--delicious. Examples of the recipes included were hot wings, pineapple mojito, strawberry shortcake, white pizza with roasted mushrooms, spaghetti surprise, BBQ salmon, new greek salad, mini blueberry muffins, cheese fries, chocolate volcano cake, violet smoothie, chicken cordon bleu, tiramisu, and many more. I like the fact that most of the above food is definitely not something you would associate with dieting. As explained by the book, however, the key to losing weight wasn't depriving yourself of food, but adjusting the ingredients and controlling the amount you consume. The recipes themselves tend to stay on the short side. The less time-consuming ones have a lightning icon drawn next to them. An added bonus is a special section at the end of the book, called "Menus," were recipes from the book along with their page numbers are organized into different categories like Girl's Night Out, Romantic Dinner for Two, Brunch, Game Night, Sunday Night Supper, Italian, Breakfast for Dinner, and etc. Overall, an impressive book.

I was very satisfied and not disappointed by this book . Although I liked the first book, it has many more recipes and I believe they taste better too. The updates on the people also helped with encouragement. The snack list of 100 calories or less was very useful. It seems to have more suggestions for variations of a recipe. For example, the chicken cordon bleu recipe has suggestions for a greek and mexican versions.

I just received the latest Cook Yourself Thin cookbook. This edition is written by one of the show's executive producers, so many (if not all) of the recipes look new and "never before seen" on the show. I can't wait to try the Chicken Cordon Bleu and the Cashew Chicken recipes, plus all the dessert recipes look fantastic. I also like that this cookbook includes "real life stories" of people who have lost weight on the Cook Yourself Thin cookbooks, with tips on what worked for them in helping lose weight. And this cookbook includes more nutritional information than the first cookbook - calories, fat, sodium and sugar for each recipe.

Good stuff,
This review is from: Cook Yourself Thin Faster: Have Your Cake and Eat It Too with Over 75 New Recipes You Can Make in a Flash! (Paperback)
I bought the first book because I loved the show. Sad that it didn't last long but changing the times and having odd hours of showings is never a good idea for a new show. I liked the first book but wish there were more pictures. This book has the same problem. Another thing is they have recipes that wouldn't appeal to alot of people. Some ingretients are very expensive as well. If you go on youtube they think spending $7 on ingretients for a snack is reasonable. The reason I gave this book only 3 stars instead of five is there were alot of repeat recipes or recipes that had incorrect information in them (missing steps, missing ingretients etc)

So far, all recipes I have made have turned out delicious. Would not even know that they are calorie/fat conscious! the blintz pancakes are delicious! The fettucini with mushrooms is also good. Most recipes make at least 4 portions and are easy to cut in half if cooking for 2. I have the original cookbook, too and this is a great compliment. the TV show site gives a lot of the recipes online, but having all details , including pictures, in one place is quite handy!

I am having a blast trying this new recipe. Sometimes it's hard finding a recipe book with tons of recipes that make you drool just reading about. Then add that to the fact that the recipes are good for you! I highly recommend if you're looking to improve the quality of your cooking.

I purchased this book and the Cook Yourself Thin after watching the show. I have been very happy with these books as the recipes are fast, easy and tasty. My husband and I have been blown away with how great low fat food can taste. I recommend both cook books for anyone that wants to learn how to cook low fat without sacrificing taste.

One of the biggest reasons we fail in our diets is that we are ask to give up eating the things we love. In Cook Yourself Thin Faster, the reader is not ask to give up the things they enjoy...they are just encouraged to eat better versions of them. This book maintains that it is all about eating regular meals, portion control, and eating healthy. It is NOT about crash diets and sacrifice.
What I like most about the book are the personal stories and the great sounding, good looking recipes. I can't wait to try the White Pizza with Roasted Mushrooms! |
