Say, this record is pretty well-done, isn't it! It follows in the same vein as the previous full-length "Designs and Mistakes", with crazy beats superimposed over interesting ambient style melodic structures. So if you liked Designs and Mistakes, or are into IDM/electronica genres, you will want to pick this one up.

Animals on Wheels' first trip from Bovinyl to Ninja Tune came with COOKED. And even though "Eggshell" would find its way onto the debut album, it's worth listening to twice, a jazz-step trip. If you like the more melodic bits, "Dog Car Boy" fits the bill, and if you prefer the wilder rhythms and frenetic beats, "Invert and Click" will do you good. There's also some weirdo jazz with "Play with Words" and wobbly funk on "Back for More." Who knew animals could groove so much?

According to Zen CD's and Marshall P, There are some versions of the CD with a hidden track number 32. This was not a intented hidden track but a mistake during the first run of the CD release in 1997. They all carry the same package and same bar code and no physical way of telling if it has this hidden track. NO OTHER VERSION WAS EVER RELEASED under the name Cooked - So if someone is selling Extended version they are full of ..... !

Now an actual review of the music. (personal view)

Interesting "ambient" burning man type of electronica sound waves with high drum beats. Would make excellent club music and is very fimliar in style to music you would find on [Clubbers Trance or Club CD) if mixed by ATB or DJ skim. I wasnt impressed with "Dog Car Boy" on the first listen but it grew on me and I had to listen to it again and again. As if there was a hidden beat or melody I couldnt find. Hard to explain that one track. Chicane, and System F, DJ Mo all gave this CD a high mark for quality and DJ Mo- said in a interview he has it in his collection. I give the CD a 4 out of 5 personally - it could be better impressive 5 track release.
