I need to invest in a new crockpot. I had purchased the 4qt size, but have come to find out, for the smaller serving sizes that are offered in this book, I need a 1 ½ to 2qrt size. I had no idea that the size of the crockpot affects the overall outcome - good to know, learned something new.

I still enjoy a cookbook with pictures and there are a few here. Not every recipe gives you a visual, but the pictures that are shown, are very tantalizing and give you confidence when approaching slow cooking for the first time.

Regardless of what other cooks say, for me, the crockpot is for soups and stews with an occasional casserole type meal thrown in. What I need is basic, easy ingredients with cook times that will cover a normal workday. Unlike the previous cookbook that I reviewed, this recipe book does that.

I am not looking for gourmet food done in a crockpot, I am looking for home cooked meals that fit into my day and this book offers just that. This book is a good starting point for and individual or small family to enjoy the luxury of fix and forget food.

I received this four years ago and it's my second favorite cookbook ever (second only the Betty Crocker International Cookbook). The different sizes of slow cookers and recipes are great for changing things up for the size of one's dinner crowd. I'm also particularly fond of the two-meals recipes - for instance, the first night making succotash stew, reserving half of the recipe and then turning it into a shepherd's pie later in the week with the leftovers.

I've found a couple duds (the Creamy Lemon Chicken -tried three times and still don't like it), but the black beans, salsa chicken, succotash stew, all of the chilis, and about fifteen others are staples in our house. Having a cookbook with around 20 standard recipes in our house is amazing. It's helped me move beyond just thinking of the slow cooker for soups and stews.

I was disappointed but it's an ok book. This is my first slow cooker, so the fact that there are recipes for different sizes of slow cookers was appealing to me, but the recipes were not exciting and a lot of recipes had a lot of stove top cooking-browning, sauteing before hand. The one dish I tried had me use 3 different skillets & a pan. My husband asked why didn't I just cook it on the stove?

being just the two of us I thought I would like this cookbook. there are some ok recipes in it. Nothing to write home about. just wasn't what I thought. Other people may like it, but I have not found much I would like to cook from it
