Best Collection of Cookie Recipes,
By Snarkychef (Austin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cookie Stories: Life Stories and the Cookies that Inspired Them (Paperback)
I bought Cookie Stories after attending a workshop given by Penny Mcconnell. So far, all the cookies I've made have been well received by everyone, and the recipes were easy to follow. There are all sorts of useful baking tips in the front of the book and answers to common questions in the back. The most important information for me was the sugar cookie recipe. I have a recipe that tastes a little bit better, but it is so difficult to work with that I now use the recipe from this book instead. It's simple, quick, and tastes pretty good. This is the most used cookie book in my baking collection.
The stories were entertaining too.

I loved the stories. After I read the book I bought 10 more for gifts. I think everyone can find themselves in one of the stories. Recipes are good too.

Cookie Moments!,

This review is from: Cookie Stories: Life Stories and the Cookies that Inspired Them (Paperback)
This book is fun! The recipes are great and the "life stories" add charm. Each chapter (Romance, Passion, Family, Sharing, and Holidays) features cookie recipes, plus real-life stories and memories from a variety of people about the "cookie moments" in their lives.
The recipes come from a professional baker (founder of Penny's Pastries) and include detailed instructions, which is helpful for the baking-challenged. I appreciated Penny's tips for baking beautiful cookies -- I always wondered how bakeries make them so uniform and perfect!

This review is from: Cookie Stories: Life Stories and the Cookies that Inspired Them (Paperback)
As an avid reader and collector of cookbooks, this heart warming book/cookbook covers all the bases. The stories are so vivid and real. We've all been there! I found myself laughing out loud at some of the stories and being touch and warmed by others.
The recipes are ones that everyone can make and the directions are simple and easy to follow. Loved the shortbread and brownies! Even if you don't collect cookbooks or bake, you'll enjoy this book. The stories will just make you feel good! I've tested several of the recipes. Now it's time to have a cup of coffee, eat some COOKIES and re-read some wonderful stories. |
