Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for HARRY AND HORSIE: “Young boys and space adventurers will adore this captivating, exuberant, and contagious tale.” (Kirkus Reviews (starred review) )

Praise for HARRY AND HORSIE: “With dashing visuals that capture Harry’s deep-space adventure with verve to spare, and a comforting resolution, this has potential to be a bedtime favorite.” (ALA Booklist )

Praise for HARRY AND HORSIE: “A delightful story with even more delightful illustrations. Agnew’s art is wonderfully retro-modern - like what the future looked like in, say, comic books of the ‘50s.” (New York Post )

Agnew’s high-energy, retro look makes a dashing complement to Van Camp’s hyperpowered flight of fancy. (Booklist )

About the Author

Katie Van Camp is a former dancer who, at the age of eighteen, moved to Shanghai, China, to open a ballet school and teach kindergarten. A few years later she headed to New York to work as an au pair for a little boy named Harry (and his best friend, Horsie), who inspired her to write both Cookiebot! and her first picture book, Harry and Horsie. Katie is now back in Asia, writing and teaching. She currently calls Tokyo home.

Lincoln Agnew once tried to build his own robot out of a plastic bucket, a broken microwave, and "technology," but sadly its abilities were limited to catching fire. Years later, after giving up on world domination, he attended the Alberta College of Art and Design, where he obtained degrees in both illustration and photography. Lincoln made his debut as a picture book illustrator with Harry and Horsie, for which he won the 2009 Society of Illustrators "The Original Art" Founder's Award as well as the Marion Vannett Ridgway Award. He is currently rebuilding that robot.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic sequel April 24, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
We discovered the first Harry and Horsie by accident and it quickly became our 2 year old's favorite book. When this second tale released we were excited but at the same time wary that it might not live up to the first book's magic. I'm pleased to say it complements the first story very nicely and now our son insists we read the two in order before bed every night. I cannot thank the author and illustrator enough for such a wonderful series and we look forward to the next one.

And for fans if you didn't know you can now get a Horsie stuffed animal online.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cookiebot Rules! March 20, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Katie brings us another adventure in the Harry and Horsie line of children's books. Katie's story, woven together with awesome illustrations, brings to life a grand adventure beyond the normal taking of a cookie from the jar! With Harry and Horsie building the Cookiebot to reach and retrieve them some cookies, the Cookiebot becomes a cookie-monster itself and it's up to Harry and Horsie to save all the cookies! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I know my family and friends will see what a wonderful story it is and want it for their own children! Bravo to Katie and her "Harry and the Horsie" adventures! I can't wait for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awe. Some. February 21, 2013

The first book in this series, Harry and Horsie, quickly became a favorite in our house, and when I discovered that a sequel had been published, we were incredibly excited and eager to order it. The illustrations, like the original Harry and Horsie, are vivid and very engaging, and my two-year-old daughter keeps finding new things to point out as we read it together. The story itself is adorable and very imaginative, and my daughter loves to gasp in alarm as the robot wreaks more and more havoc as the tale goes on. This book is at the top of our list of favorites, and I hope that there will be another adventure with Harry and Horsie coming soon.
