5.0 out of 5 stars Preschooler Tested!
In the great cookie of life, this book is the chocolate chips! I love this book so much. I've been a preschool teacher for years and this story is always a hit with the children. The opening line, "On Monday Cookie fell in the toilet" appeals to a child's funny bone...and they adore the antics of this fun and frisky feline! It's the cat's meow!

3.0 out of 5 stars For the cat lover
If your toddler or preschooler is a cat lover, this a short, charming story. Cookie is a naughty cat making a mess all week long. On Sunday Cookie rests or does he?

My three year old loved every page. This is one they will be mimick reading quickly for its shortness, but that helps them with their interest in real reading.

Cookie's Week is a great Pre-school or Kindergarten book! Your little ones will be on the edge of their seats wondering what Cookie will do next. Not only will they learn the days of the week and a pattern, but after a couple of readings, they'll be reading it to you! Cookie is just the kind of cat every Kindergarter should have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still like..., August 30, 2005

When I was a young child my mom always read this book to me before bed time. I've always liked it because Cookie always got in a big mess of trouble for a week. It feels like I grew up on this book and life is similiar. Still this is my favorite book to share with others. It sticks in the childs head from the moderate tone the author uses and the humor that Cookie goes thru for the entire week of insanity.

4.0 out of 5 stars charming simple story, February 18, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This tale about a kitten's misadventures delightfully brings one through the days of the week with simple text that preschool age children will quickly identify with. dePaoloa's pictures are an excellent match to the text. Those of us raised in a culture where the Genesis creation story is prevalent will quickly recognize the humor of Cookie's lack of a rest day.
The only thing that disappointed me was the size of the book, believe it or not. It measures approximately 7 x 7 inches which makes it slightly smaller than I would wish for when reading to a large group of preschoolers. For snugglier situations such as a bedtime story this would not be an issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Children's Book for Learning Their Days of the Week, July 30, 2005
This review is from: Cookie's Week (Paperback)
This is the greatest book for a child when it is read to them. It is about each day of the week and what the cat does on that day. It reads quickly and the pictures are perfect.
Check this out if your child wants to know what day it is and she will learn quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars good for teaching the days of the week, April 16, 2005

This picture book is written in a simple pattern. Each day of the week, the cat makes a mess in a different place.

Picture books written in a day-of-the-week pattern are few and far between. For this purpose, I also recommend "All Through the Week with Cat and Dog," ISBN 0613340485.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simplistic but Surprisingly a Winner, September 30, 2008

Normally I try to avoid buying books for my 2yr old son that have very little story... but since we're trying to teach him the days of the week, I figured an approach involving a naughty cat couldn't hurt.

This is a great book for storytime -- the illustrations and delay in seeing the cat sneak off somewhere and then seeing the mess it makes, works a treat. With a little extra commentary as I tell the story (a big 'ol cat screech when the curtains come crashing down, for instance), I can have my son in fits of giggles. As a result, he asks for this book every night at bed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, September 17, 2008

This book was a wonderful way to help my kindergarten class learn the order of the days of the week. We enjoyed finding out what kind of trouble Cookie got into on a certain day. My class asks me to go back and read the story again when we have free time. Anyone who orders this book is getting their money's worth, it is not a waste.

My two daughters have loved this story ever since they were old enough to tell me so. Preschool and Kindergarten love when I read this story to their class. It is simple, sweet and teaches the days of the week.
