We own all the Cooking for Two books. They are great for my husband and I. How many times have you found a recipe but ended up with leftovers for the rest of the week? This series shows you actual meals that will fill you up and not leave you with a ton of extras at the end of the night.

Each recipe is prefaced with an in-depth explanation as to why they choose the methods and techniques utilized. The recipes are extremely tasty and, for the most part, are easy to make. Just as important, there is plenty of food for two - every recipe has left us full. I have a subscription to Americastestkitchen.com, but have all Cooking For Two books because they include additional recipes not found online; and include other advantages, such as cooking large roasts and using the leftovers for 2 additional unique dinners.

A nice variety if dishes with thorough instructions. Most prepare more than enough for 2 people, more like 3 or even 4. I wish they had nutritional analysis, calorie counts at the least.

The recipes in this series of Books from America's Test Kitchens are super delicious! They have wonderful, helpful tips all through the books and a great guide to buying smaller cookware for cooking for two. Since my kids moved out and it's just me and my husband, these are my favorite cookbooks. I have collected all of them since they started publishing the series and have never regretted buying them. Every recipe I've tried has been great!

I've had more or less success with cutting down recipes myself; frequently, sauces or soups cannot be simply halved (or quartered or whatever), because there will not be enough liquid to allow it to cook long enough, or, with baked goods, the ratios are off, and often it's difficult to gauge exactly how long something will need to bake or roast in order to be done, but not over done. These books take the guess work out of it. Yes, they are by Cooks' Illustrated, which means that about half the recipes require twice as much time as I'm willing to spend just to get dinner on the table, but that still leaves half of them that are useful -- and the others can be used for special occasions.

I have all of these books (and as we speak, the 2013 volume is winging its way across the country to me!) and have made at least 6 recipes from each book.

Each recipe, even if it wasn't my favorite, came out perfectly. The recipes can seem a bit involved but once you've cooked through enough of them you start to recognize the techniques they use and it doesn't seem as complicated.

The slow cooker recipes are not dump and go recipes. They require pre-cooking to get the right flavors and not have the meal taste one dimensional. They are also short cooking meals. If you expect to place something into the crock pot at 7am when you leave for work and eat it at 12 pm, these aren't going to work for you. Thees recipes take, at max 5 hours. They are small portions in a small crock pot. But they taste amazing! I love these recipes and have made a few of them multiple times.

The one big roast section is also great, I'd love to see an entire book on this concept.

I think all of the books are great but 2011 and 2012 are my favorites at this point.

I bought this as a gift for my boss who mentioned that she was having trouble adapting to cooking for just her and her husband after her children had left the nest. I don't think you can EVER go wrong with a cookbook from America's Test Kitchen, and this was well received. If you're new to these cookbooks, you may find that they have fewer recipes than you would expect, but they go into detail about why the recipe uses the ingredients and methods that it does and tells you about the things that they tried that didn't work. Overall, it's an educational experience that results in some terrific eating!

I have a number of ATK books and I love them all. I also love the TV show. I don't think you can find anyone else who does the thorough testing that ATK does. I have found all their recipes to be great. I highly recommend any cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen.
