Editorial Reviews

Review

"The book is a delight, not just for the recipes -- but also for her commentary on biblical eating habits and the foodstuffs themselves." -- Edgar Miller, The East tennessee Catholic.

I sense, in your writing, a real energy and commitment to your belief in your mission and to your reader. . . You have a fine sense of timing in your writing . . . you come up . . . with witty discursive remarks that are delightful. -- Graham Kerr

We found the book fascinating for its history alone. Stadd has a unique manner of a history lesson in food with intriguing recipes done in a very entertaining fashion." -- John Austin, Hollywood Inside Syndicate

This book was not what I expected. It did not contain authentic information on biblical foods nor did it contain recipes that the people of biblical times would have cooked. There may have been some exceptions to this but overall, it was not suitable for one who is truly interested in Biblical cuisine.

I was expecting to get a book that gave recipes for foods just like they would have been made in the Bible. There weren't many recipes written in the Bible. You're better off getting the book, "Jewish Traditions" or something similar.

This book takes the ingredients that would have been easily found during Bible times, and makes modern day dishes with them using modern equipment (nothing wrong with modern equipment!). The recipes aren't bad, but nothing to write home about.

I enjoyed the meal planning guide at the back of the book for the Jewish holy days. I also enjoyed the narrative along with the ingredients. It may not have been an accurate representation of the daily diet at the time of the old and new testament but then we have found that ingredients are far more available in the 21st century and the ground yield is not of the same nutritional value as then.
