This book gives about 150 recipes that follow the seasons. It can give you ideas with what to do with all those wonderful things you see at farmers' markers or that you grow yourself.

Somehow the contents pages are not the easiest to follow; but they contain appetizers, soups, greens and salads, meats, poultry and other main entrees, pizza and pasta, roots, desserts and filling the pantry. There are very few pictures of the finished recipes, there are lovely photos of the fresh food as you would purchase or pick it.
It would be nice to have pictures of the different varieties of squash or greens, for example to help those that need it, to help in identification.

This is a way to find a variety of recipes for fresh produce and meat such as chicken, lamb and pork. Especially good are the various recipes for the different varieties of squash and the simple roma sauce.

If you keep a garden journal, you'll want to buy this now so you'll know what to add to your vegetable garden for next year. It is full of beautiful pictures, cooking hints, a little farming philosophy, and literally cooking for all seasons.

Although the recipes are geared toward a colder climate than what we have in Ohio, our vegetable crops are the same. And we here in Ohio think our maple syrup is as good as you get anywhere. So I was happy to see maple syrup in recipes.

It is not a vegetarian cookbook but does contain several recipes you can serve your vegetarian friends.

This would make a wonderful present for any vegetable gardener you know.

The cover grabbed my attention and the recipes have lived up to my expectations. The book has a good mix of vegetable and meat recipes, something for everyone. I like the hints and stories that make this personable/relatable to gardeners and wanna-be gardeners alike.

I look forward to sharing with my friends, and trying more of the recipes.

This books attempts to get us to eat local and seasonal with less processed foods. I look at it as a return to the way our great grandparents ate. Food wasn't transported across continents. You ate what was produced locally when it was ready to be eatten. I think it was better for us.
