5.0 out of 5 stars A Welcome Change, October 7, 2010
This review is from: Cooking for College Students: A Beginner's Guide (Paperback)
The most thorough introduction to the art of cooking available to college students. This book covers everything from how to chop your vegetables, to what time of year certain fruits and veggies come into season, to planning a full-out dinner party. The pictures are mouthwatering, the commentary is spicy, and the recipes are a cinch (except for the most advanced ones, of course). There are laughs tucked into every page. Very enjoyable to read, not just to cook from.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is Amazing!, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Cooking for College Students: A Beginner's Guide (Paperback)
Length:: 1:43 Mins

This book is really amazing, and the food is DELICIOUS. There are over 125 recipes that utilize affordable ingredients, but there is also an encyclopedia of basic techniques and explanations that most college students can use everyday: shopping directions for fruits, vegetable and different types of meat and seafood (as well as what to avoid and buy on sale), weekly menus written around base proteins, a complete list of supplies to stock your dorm's pantry and kitchen, step by step chopping directions for commonly used vegetables and even an entertaining section with pre written menus that even the most inexperienced chefs can execute for dinner parties. Recipes have evolutions, which incorporate the leftovers into different recipes, and suggestions on how to impress people by adding small touches. And for more experienced chefs, there is a gourmet section that features more expensive ingredients that people can make instead of going out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners, on a budget. From one college student to another!, January 19, 2012
This review is from: Cooking for College Students: A Beginner's Guide (Paperback)
After purchasing this book, I have attempted (and completed!) many different recipe's and all have been AMAZING! What's great about the book is that it provides step by step directions for EVERY part of the meal, from buying the ingredients, cutting and prep, cook/prep times to serving methods. Among the recipe's, complete dinner party meal's are included (great for impressing friends) as well as weekly menu's and shopping lists, this way I can reuse the leftovers for different meals in addition to the ingredients. Too often do I buy tons of ingredients and only get one dish out of them, but this book taught me otherwise! My favorites are the pineapple express fried rice, the burger sliders, and the hot chocolate cake. As a college student myself this book is a great buy for beginners as well as experienced cooks. Awesome!
