This book covers the basic cooking information that anyone at any level would love to have. From how to prepare vegetables to how to stock your cupboards with the essentials, this book has it all. I recommend this book for beginners because it educates them on how to prepare, clean, store, and measure (just to mention a few). Happy Reading!!

I came across this book at someone's house. I was amazed at the amount of the information it contained and the nice simple recipes, that I decided to purchase it. It is great for a beginner who wants education about the 101 of mostly everything common you could use in a kitchen. But the information about cooking, storing times are vital to anyone regardless of their level. The master recipes section with all the pictures of different steps really helps learn in learning as you cook. Made recipes straight from book since then. Plus, many of the recipes are easy to adjust (in case you are missing an ingredient, etc). And I have used techniques from this book to prepare other recipes.

Cooking Essentials presents in simplistic terms how to prepare and cook food. It has a wealth of information if you need the basics in preparing and cooking foods. I first checked this book out at my public library and reviewed it. I think it is one of the best books on the market for beginner's.

Ordered a used copy this book, checked my cart & all was fine. When I reviewed my order I saw two of these books, so I cancelled one IMMEDIATELY- seconds after I reviewed the order. I was relieved when I saw that the request was in progress, but days later, I received the book I cancelled!

The second book, the one I want, is in limbo. I don't know if this site is having technical issues or what, but it made the experience less than special, at least less than the $79. prime experience.

The book itself has water light water damage, and I'm ok with that for now (mainly because the other book is on its way).

I love Mary Berry's writing style and the tone of the book shows her as a graceful and patient teacher. The content of this book is excellent for beginners, showing you what & how to stock your kitchen, cooking methods, tips and encouragement to practice. I wish I had received this book when I was 12! Makes an excellent gift for your budding young lady or young man. --Or ANYONE who needs to learn or review basics.

My husband and I received one of these in the mail from the cooking club of America. My husband was so impressed, he wanted to give them to our children too! So we are doing our Christmas shopping!! This book explains the meaning of different cooking terms and shows you what it should look like!

I bought this based on the Amazon reviews and am so glad I did. I bought it for my 20 year old college student son for when he moves out this summer but after receiving it decided I wanted a copy for myself and for my sister. We like all kinds of cookbooks and have large collections but do prefer full color, picture cookbooks. This is a beautiful book. The dust cover is missing on my copy but this is a well made book with gold leaf on the cover and Beautiful pictures throughout, slick pages and pictures for all basic things and for several recipes as well. Simple but good food. Can't say enough about Cooking Essentials and will be looking for more books from this collection.

This is a fabulous find. The book should be given to every new bride and every child that leaves the nest and goes out on his/her own. It has step by step instructions, better than mom can give, for the tasks we all take for granted, and simple recipes to follow up with and use these methods to make something delicious. I'm a Home-Ec Major - an extinct species - and I learned lots from this book. It is an expensive book at an unbelievably cheap price at Amazon. I bought 8 of these. Great Price on book. I was not happy with the way the
company shipped the book. The book was sent in a thin
paper envelope therefore the edges were bent when I
received.
