A Great Cookbook With Heart !!,
By Quinn Wyatt "qthereader" (Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cooking with Faith: 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
I couldn't wait to order this book because I'm a big fan of Faith Ford's. I wasn't disappointed! This book has heart, warmth and wonderful recipes. My mother-in-law is also a good southern cook and many of these recipes struck a familiar chord with me. The food here is truly delicious and the ultimate "comfort food" that we all crave - plus, as Faith demonstrates, it doesn't have to be fattening or unhealthy. I also love the format of the book. Filled with Faith's family anecdotes, photos and stories, they are wonderful touches and add a personal warmth. Candice Bergen's "Forward" was also a nice surprise, and I agree that Faith should diversify into other books on home decor, entertaining, style, etc... Faith has always seemed so refreshing, not your "typical" celebrity. She obviously cherishes home, family, friends, and the things that really matter. If you love cookbooks, this one will be a great addition to your kitchen!

My Favorite Cookbook,
By Beth (Center, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cooking with Faith: 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
I was in New York City and had tickets to Good Morning America the day Faith was there promoting this cookbook. I got to meet her and eat some of the Applesauce cake which was delicious. I couldn't wait to get the cookbook. I have tried a new recipe everyday and so far, all are wonderful. I also love the format of the book and the personal notes. It is like when your best friend gives you a recipe and tells you the little tricks to make it extra good. I have been so inspired by this cookbook and being a southern girl myself, I understand and appreciate the anecdotes. You won't be disappointed.

Simple Recipes For Amazing Food!!!,

This review is from: Cooking with Faith: 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
This is one of the best cookbooks I've ever used. I have very little cooking/baking experience, but every dish I've tested from this collection have turned out to be deliciously perfect. The recipes are simply written, making them extremely easy to understand and apply, and the end results are fantastic. The only disappointment is that Ms. Ford does not include a recipe for Red Velvet Cake -- a timeless classic in all southern kitchens.

Cooking with Faith,

My favorite cookbook, too. I ordered the book the same morning Faith was on the Today show, as the spread of food looked soooooooo good, and Faith was so comfortable with her presentation. Since then, I have also bought a 12 inch iron skillet and 7Qt iron dutch oven just to use with her recipes! I have read the entire book forward and backward for the anecdotes and cooking tips, which I can adapt to all of my cooking. Three Hens Cornbread Dressing is a recipe I have looked for all my life - can't wait for Thanksgiving. A delicious book, and a lovely author.

Excellent reading & receipes together.,
This review is from: Cooking with Faith : 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
Different cookbook; combines heartwarming family stories of cooking/family growing up in Central Louisiana, along with easy, delicious recipes. I identify with the recipes since I am from that part of the state. She returns more often than I; I spoke with her in the local airport and she is a warm, friendly person who shares her love of family and receipes. Buy this, it is worth the money.

OUTSTANDING! Don't miss this one!,
By Mark Twain "Gillian" (New York) - See all my reviews

The foreward is by Candice Bergen, who states that the author is a wonderful cook who baked and shared incredible delicacies with her associates on Murphy Brown. The book is very warmly written (by a celebrity who clearly cooks these dishes herself), and includes the spice mix Ford uses on and in many dishes. Treasured family recipes have been streamlined to make them healthier but still delicious. And each recipe is preceded by a description of why it is so special. A great read, with clearly written, well-tested tried-and-true recipes.

Cooking with Faith is Fabulous,

This review is from: Cooking with Faith: 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
I love this book. And want to buy one for all my friends. I once lived in Louisiana & miss some of the foods like meat pies and pecan pie. Faith has mini meat pies to make, as well as to die for chocolate chip-pecan pie. I can't wait to try out every recipe. I can't cook, though, never have. Hopefully, this book will make me into a home cooking expert. Get one for all you know. It's southern & wonderful.

Cooking with Faith by Faith Ford,
By Joseph S. Maresca "Dr. Joseph S. Maresca CPA,... (Bronxville, New York USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

This book is a classic on the mechanics of cooking, particularly
fine Southern cooking. For instance, "Cat High Creole" is presented. Spinach salad is described for vegetarians. The popular contents are the salad with dill horseradish dressing. Brocolli ginger soup is presented as an herbal delight. Southern soup with cabbage and beef/chicken broth is depicted for health- conscious lunchers. The acquisition would be very useful for any master cook in the house. It is reasonably priced.

Secrets Are Shared,

This review is from: Cooking with Faith : 125 Classic and Healthy Southern Recipes (Hardcover)
The author shares her family recipes with generosity. The recipes for skillet cornbread, applesauce cake, and cornbread dressing make it worth the purchase price alone. This book can make you excited about cooking again if you are feeling uninspired, and I enjoyed the personal stories throughout. It's clear that a great deal of attention went into this book, and every effort is made to ensure success. I have made probably a dozen of the recipes, and only one went into the garbage. I am an extremely picky eater, so I would consider this the highest praise! Thank you for sharing your secrets of Southern cooking!
