Foodies' paradise,
By Ellie Brown "Foodie fanatic" (Gulfport, MS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cooking Fearlessly: Recipes and Other Adventures from Hudson's on the Bend (Hardcover)
I'm a foodie who reads cookbooks for fun and relaxation in addtion to using them to feed friends and family. This book is a multi-discipline delight. The art work, the music-to-cook-by suggestions, the actual recipes. Ah, yes, the actual recipes; a bit labor intensive for my day-to-day tastes, and some of the ingredients are hard to come by in Cajun country, but on the whole, a sensory delight.

woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode,
By Bob Wolfkill (Austin, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cooking Fearlessly: Recipes and Other Adventures from Hudson's on the Bend (Hardcover)
These guys could concoct a recipe for woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode, and I'd be willing to try it. Talk about imaginative, tongue-massaging food! But the recipes need to be examined closely, particulary with regards to proportion. The amount of liquid called for in the ancho-bock smashers is excessive, as is the amount of salt in the butternut squash, granny smith apple soup. Despite these glaring errors, this was without a doubt THE BEST COOKBOOK I purchased last year. Twice!

Way too much fun in the kitchen or on the coffee table!,

This book features some of the most exiting people on the planet. It includes imaginative recipes and fearless methods from Jeff & Jay. The art is the most colorfull and exciting that I've ever seen. Shanny Lott must truly be a free spirited genius. The photography is exellent. I think I've seen some of Laurie's stuff in Savure. Deborah brings it all together in words that capture the playfully intelligent spirit of the entire team. Check out the Desert inspired by Anne Richard's Hair and the piece about George W. I recomend this as a must in anyones kitchen. Blow your freinds away with a little fearless cooking school of your own. It is the perfect gift for anyone especially if they like to cook.

I have cooked a couple of recipes out of this book, and all I can say is it's a wonderful thing for anyone to own! Be they homemaker or a professional chef. And Chef Jay Moore is a wonderful chef to study under, as he is my instructor at my culinary school. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to cook!
