I've enjoyed other cookbooks by this author so I was excited when I saw that Rachel Rappaport had written a new cookbook featuring Frank's RedHot sauce. I have quite a few family and friends who will be getting this cookbook and a variety pack of Frank's sauces for the holidays this year, because we all love spicy food and getting together to eat and drink.

I've made several of the recipes already and have found them to be easy to follow (like the ones in Ms. Rappaport's other books). I like that she uses "real" ingredients instead of relying on processed foods in her recipes. I also love how the recipes are for foods that are somewhat familiar, but usually with a big twist.

The four things I've made so far have turned out very well. I made the Deviled Egg Salad to bring for lunch this week, and it was excellent with melba toast (my preferred method for eating egg salad). I am sure it would be good on a sandwich, too.

I brought Red Hot Sopes with Slow Cooker Carnitas to a potluck birthday party last week. This was very successful and flavorful. I had 3 people ask me for the recipe.

Yesterday for football watching with friends, I made the Guacamole and the Hot-Sauced Kentucky Beer Cheese. There are tons of great recipes for tailgating or sports-watching get-togethers. They're mostly quick and easy to put together, but they taste like you slaved over them. And because it's hot sauce, they make you thirsty, so they go very well with beer or cocktails.

I look forward to eventually trying all of these recipes.

I ordered this book as I love Frank's RedHot Sauce. I found it to be very useful and one that I will refer to time and time again. The recipes are easy to follow, and quick and easy to prepare. The author lists the ingredients and provides an explanation as to what is needed to make substitutes if need be. So far from the book, I've made wings, crab dip and guacamole. All delicious and easy to make.

This is a great cookbook for any Franks lovers out there. There are a lot of recipes in here. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, side dishes, appetizers, dips, and dessert. A lot of the recipes even had full page pictures of the dish which I really liked. I'm a visual person and like to see what I'm making and how it's supposed to look. The only down side to this cookbook is that it is not vegetarian friendly. I was honestly hoping for more out-there recipes like the hot nut brittle recipe that I made and loved. There is however, one recipe in here that I wanted to try that's a cinnamon bun with Franks icing. THAT'S what I was hoping to see here but those kinds of recipes were few and far between in this cookbook. Then again, I realize that not everyone is as adventurous when it comes to cooking and eating new things.

With that being said though, I do think there are some good sounding recipes in here and I love that there is a cookbook out there that revolves around Franks. The author takes the time to give you the background story on Franks and even lists the various types of Franks sauces that are out there. If you didn't know, Franks is more than just the original hot sauce that's known for covering wings. She also includes a recipe to make your own dry ranch dressing mix and blue cheese dressing. Neither of which contain Franks, but compliment the hot sauce nicely. Like I said, this is a nice cookbook. It's not something you would want to get for your vegetarian family member or friend, but any Franks or carnivore lover would definitely get use out of this book.
