I know it sounds corny, but this book has changed my life. I never knew food could taste so good until I made Mike Nichol's Penne with Tomatoes, made with fresh tomatoes, basil leaves, garlic, and olive oil, with flavors melded by setting the bowl in the afternoon sun for a few hours. The Lentil Salad with lemon juice, olive oil, and red onions is great on rice or as a side dish. My wife loves Cavatelli with Broccoli Rabe for its slightly sour taste. This is Italian food at its best: flavorful, low-fat, easy-to-make recipies. I've lost 5 lbs last month simply by using these recipies, and I can eat as much as I want and still lose weight! And being a fan of Jack Nicholson movies, I love reading the little comments here and there about Jack, his tastes, his friends, and so on. I highly recommend this book!

The best cookbook I own, August 17, 2000
This review is from: Cooking for Jack with Tommy Baratta (Paperback)
I am depressed beond words that this brillant man has not written another cook book. His recipes are breath takingly good. I adore his simple yet delicious food. This is the only cookbook I use to entertain with anymore. To not buy this book if you like cooking good food would be a mistake right up there with not buying microsoft stock when they first when public. You would kick yourself forever if you were ever to find out what you were missing. I am picky and hard to please, and this cookbook is wonderful. My husband loves this food:)))

Excellent food and diet advice, December 31, 2002

Kathleen Turner's steak is the best! You'll never believe it's a diet dish. Didn't like Joe Pesci's sweet potato gnocchi but that's a matter of personal taste. This book is great for learning how to cook good food that is low fat, has great taste, and doesn't break your budget or take more than 20 minutes to prepare. We've had the book for a year, and cooked almost every recipe in it. By the way... Jack is Jack Nicholson.

I really liked this cookbook alot. This book has all the elements I look for in a good cookbook - interesting anecdotes and descriptions preceding each recipe, tasty-looking recipes made with only a few ingredients (usually 6 or less) and low fat, to boot!
