It's Great for the summer, kids keep on learning!, June 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
I bought this book for a 9 yr.old, that is not very interested in school right now. He was so excited, and he is reading, learning math, and also learning to cook all at the same time, and realizing that it's fun to learn! In the first day, he made three dishes from this great book, and it looks like his summer won't be a dull one! He wants to make everything in the book. This is a totally awesome book, and a must for children!

Great for you Justin!-now you can afford an Editor, February 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
We were quite impressed with the chef and his parents for encouraging Justin-way to go!! For the next book, I would suggest a cookbook editor to proof the recipes...of course there is no substitute for parental suppervision-but some parents are non-cooks and wouldn't catch things like 'blend all' directions when making French Toast! We did, but I felt sorry for the others...

excellent book to teach children to help in the kitchen, February 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
I thought the book was well written for youngsters to help them not to be afraid and intimidated around a kitchen and to help them be more self sufficient in todays busy dual parent working lives. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to any youngsters and parents to help navigate the sometimes unfamiliar and intimidating world of the kitchen. There is more to growing up and parenting than just teaching children soccer and baseball and helping with homework.

What great way to enjoy life with your children, we do., September 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
My what an unique child and author and simply superb concept in cooking. This book is worth having just to spend times with children. The recipes may not be the best but they are worth making for and with your children, just as we have done over and over. We were amazed how much fun we had with our children and they with us. They learned planning, respect and achievement. Tally Ho, Chef Justin And Give Us Another Book Soon!

GREAT! Not just for kids, but for anyone who can't cook!, August 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
Although this book seems to be geared toward kids, it is also a great tool for newlyweds and those who just aren't real good in the kitchen. The book includes great recipes for chicken, pork chops, sausage and of course my kids favorite- desserts. This book was written with the hopes of bringing children and their parents or grandparents closer together. By spending quality time together, having fun and being able to eat the finished product. There's also knock-knock jokes and a level of difficulty. Parents are encouraged to let kids help as much as they want to. When they make a mess, assure them that everyone does, but if you make a mess you have to help clean it up. It's also a good idea to let the kids help out with the dishes. Make it a game, make it fun, tell knock-knock jokes to help pass the time. It's truly amazing how much we can learn about each other just spending a half hour or an hour of quality time in the kitchen. In this hectic world where it takes 2-incomes to keep a family going, let's not forget how important our family is. We all get aggrevated and have a tendency to take frustrations out on our loved ones. Why not relax, spend some quality time and get to know your family? After all, we DO have to eat, so cooking and breaking bread is the perfect time to get together. 2-words HAVE FUN!! Thanks to Amazon for listing my son's book "COOKING WITH JUSTIN" and Thanks to YOU for purchasing it. I sincerely hope you enjoy it! Jimi Miller

Family Cookouts with Kids not just Helping but cook too!, February 5, 1999
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
After our kids saw Chef Justin on David Letterman and Rosie O'donnel they forced out to order the book and we have never regretted it. Little Joey checked the mail everyday until it cam in and when it did all three children worked with other deciding what they would cook together for the family. Helen Marie prepared all the pots, Jeanette set up all the recipe's food preparation and Little Joey mixed all together. Now on every birthday, holiday and special cookouts our kids cook for us the parents and their sisters and brother instead of paying for gifts. Each meal is wonderful and easy just like Chef Justin does it. Everybody feels like something special because everybody workd together and enjoys it the same time. A great gift for any family and a better family planner of activies than any video, computer game or music concert. You won't regret having this book influence your children to work together and enjoy a meal or dessert together. Lancaster, PA

Cooking With Chef Justin taught our children responsibilty., February 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
My significant other purchased this book on a lark and we are amazed at the reaction of our children. Our youngest better known as BJ, actually took cooking classes after making several of the recipes in Chef Justin's book. Brandi, our other child used it as a cooking competition for a slumber party weekend and presented awards for the best meal from this book. Now our children are actually cooking almost twice a week and gaining valuable discipline, responsibility and knowledge. What a bright idea from an obivious bright young man in the name of Chef Justin Miller. I never thought us Texans would learn from a Pennsylvanian but we were wrong, they are not just learning but having a great time because of this super book for kids!!!

Cute idea. However, should've been edited by a cook., December 27, 1998

This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
I ordered two of these for my twin sons. They already like to cook so I thought they should have their own book, as I did at the age of seven. I was very disappointed with the quality of the editing, considering the fact that the book is being offered as an educational tool. Some recipes have ingredients missing, others have directions which may produce unintended results. Unless a parent is paying close attention the first recipe in the book, Hannah's Banana French Toast, could result in blended bread (the directions say to place all ingredients in the blender). Most people do not read instructions all the way through before starting something, let alone kids. They perform steps one at a time. A large number of the recipes here are not written with that in mind. Be aware, either plan on checking each recipe carefully before your child begins, or do as I did, and re-edit the book when you recieve it. I think a kids book for kids can be a great thing, but the production of the book needs to be better monitored by the adults, so the production in the kitchen is not a disaster. I don't want to see my boys put off of cooking because the recipe was in error - they will think it was their mistake.

Too many cooks in the kitchen, August 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooking With Justin: Recipes for Kids (And Parents) by the World's Youngest Chef (Paperback)
....These [recipes] are definetly written by a child and often are missing steps or are confusing. For example in "Sydney's Sailing Ships" mayonnaise is a listed ingredient but is completely left out of the steps. In a "Hannah's Banana French Toast" the first step says to put all ingredients in blender, mix well. Well, in went the bread and out came slop, my son was dissappointed and felt he had done something wrong. In short this book is worth having, we are having fun with it and the recipes and resulting dishes are appealing to children and adults, but you definetly need to fill in the gaps for your child.
