My kids love this cookbook. There are some creative cakes, fun desserts, snacks, and other recipes including holiday ideas. Our favorite is the purple cow recipe which is a smoothie made with yogurt and grape juice (we modify it a bit). A lot of the recipes you have probably seem before but you get full page color photos. Its a great cookbook and I recommend it for any young budding chef in the family, and parents will get some new ideas also. I first purchased this cookbook when it first came out I wont be giving up my copy of this cookbook any time soon! And my kids are tw/teens. My 11yo daughter can cook on her own as she is a budding chef, and she can make a lot of these recipes on her own, yet my 13yo wont cook on her own. So it really depends on your childs ability. There are some recipes, like the cakes, that may take helping hands to get them looking right.

This is for Amazon.com---I have already done a review and wonder why you are asking again!!! I have not even opened the pkg. as it is for a Christmas gift and I'm assuming it is new as advertised!
