5.0 out of 5 stars Had to rate this... January 25, 2013

I often have good intentions about writing reviews and somehow never get around to it. This book I just had to review. It is wonderful. I lived in Korea Town in L.A. for a while - not my favorite place in the world, but the food was great. Especially because one of my dearest friends is Korean, and she wanted to introduce me to the foods she loved. Having moved, I no longer have an abundance of Korean restaurants to choose from, and the kim chi I have found up here is... meh. I decided I had to find a recipe for radish kim chi, and that is how I stumbled onto Maanchi's videos online. It turned out GREAT the first time. I used a bit more ginger than she does, and it was perfect for me. I have since tried a few other things and ended up getting the book I am reviewing now. Spoke to my friend and told her... and she says that she uses her recipes, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recipes can get confusing September 5, 2013
By Gamine
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I did check out the sample of the book first, so I was aware how the digital book was set up. I decided to overlook the set up because I really enjoy Maangchi's recipes. As one recipe ends, another starts right up. There is nothing separating one recipe from the next. As for the recipes, they are easy to make. Since I am reading them from the Kindle app on an iPad, I can touch on a link that takes me to the website. The website have better directions along with videos. Korean food can be time consuming with many steps so the added videos really help. These recipes are very authentic & remind me of Korea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Korean Cookbook Ever November 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is an excellent companion to Maangchi's Korean Cooking videos. The photos are great and her cooking style makes the recipes easy to duplicate. Having the recipes on my Kindle means that I never forget the ingredient list at home. A must have for anyone wanting to learn how to cook (and eat!) Korean food.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay for Korean cooking. July 23, 2014
By Liz

I love Maangchi! She's adorable and her food is bomb. This recipe book is definitely a good deal. Included are most of the basics and traditional Korean food. She prepares everything almost exactly like my mother does so that scores huge points with me. The recipes are detailed and there are photos of the dishes so you know what they're supposed to look like. If you're unsure of whether or not to purchase, watch her cooking show on Youtube or visit her website to get a taste. I like having it on my Kindle Fire because I can just take the tablet with me to the grocery store when I need to purchase any ingredients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Korean food made easy! January 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My mom is Korean, born and raised in Seoul. I think her biggest disappointment with me is that I am unable to reproduce the culinary creations she makes in her own kitchen. As a result, trips to Mom's result in her cooking all of my favorites. Since I purchased this book, I have made several of the recipes in it and been successful every time! Now, I have more confidence and can feed my husband the Korean meals he loves without having wait until my mom is around to cook them! If you have a love for Korean food, authentic, made in your own kitchen Korean food, this is definitely a must have book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Maangchi January 2, 2013

I have been watching Maangchi's videos on YouTube for the past 2yrs. I felt like this book was a good compliment to her videos. Her recipes are tasty and pretty easy. This book also has a section with names and pic of the Korean ingredients which I found helpful when grocey shopping at my local Korean market. The book has a good number of recipes. I stil want more recipes as I really do like Korean food, and want to learn and try as many dishes as I can. Can't wait till she puts out her next cookbook.
