This product is a great alternative to the traditional boring, low fat food. The portions are reasonable, and most of the food I have tried so far is really yummy. I cannot stand frozen, "diet" meals and since I love to cook this is a FABULOUS alternative. I would not recommend this for someone who hates cooking though. It requires quite a bit of planning. But it is worth it.

Example: Today I had the following:
Breakfast - Blueberry Coffee Cake (which I would make again, diet or no) and 2 links of Turkey Sausage
Lunch - Chicken with Wild Mushroom Sauce (contained cream :) ) with Egg Noodles; Carrot Sticks; and a Homemade Mocha Cookie (fairly decent size too!)
Dinner - Pork stir fry with Pineapples and Brown Rice; Apple

This cook book is my new favorite! The meals are all very reasonable to make with simple ingredients. I love it and will cook with it often. There is a picture of each recipe covering an entire page. I love and need this in a cookbook. It is a must buy!

Since it's the new year and everyone is trying to become "a new you" I went on a diet and accidentally stumbled across this book at my local library. The book is broken up into 4 sections, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks, and each recipe has the caloric intake for the dish with little tips on the side of the page. There are a plethora of recipes to pick from, and everything that my friends and I tried tasted amazing! It's even beginner friendly. My friend that never cooks made the blueberry coffee cake and tasted like it came from a real bakery. I love how each recipe has a photo so you know what your dish is supposed to look like, and it's hard to believe that I'm saving money by eating in, and losing weight by not eat out! I only wish that this book had more dessert recipes because I have a sweet tooth, otherwise its great! Definitely a recommended buy.

I thought this might be a cookbook that was based on a gimmicky premise that does not really work, but the Cooking Light people have not disappointed. The idea is that 3 main recipes and 2 snacks will add up to 1500 calories a day.
I have read other cookbooks like this and found them unappealing, but the recipes in this book would appeal even without the overall premise.

Usally when I pick up a cookbook, a small percentage of the recipes really catch my eye. In this cookbook, there are only a few I am not interested in. The recipes all seem uncomplicated and easy to follow.

In addition to the recipes, there is a small amount of practical dieting information. One feature of this book that I really like is that many of the recipes have a a suggestion at the end for low calorie accompaniments that help turn the recipe into more of a meal.

As you can tell from my other cookbook reviews, I like a well designed cookbook, and this one does not disappoint. It has a nice clean , bold look, and is full of the all-important color photos of the completed recipes.

An all around appealing cookbook, and not just for those trying to diet.

I have had this cookbook for a couple months now and have tried many recipes... they are fantastic! Recipes vary from super simple to a little more complex, but everything has really easy steps and beautiful pictures to see your outcome. All of the recipes I have tried so far are keepers.

Most recipes also give suggestions of healthy sides you could add for a more complete meal. The calorie estimation is great and its nice to have low-calorie recipes that taste as great as these. For many of the recipes you can also swap and switch out your favorite proteins (though that changes the calorie count), but its a nice option.

There are also great desserts and snacks that are low-calorie! What more could you want? It's great to use a guideline for a lower calorie diet, whether you follow the book from breakfast to dessert each day, or if you just pick and choose a few meals to make throughout the week.

I'm insulin dependent diabetic & love to cook. This book is a "must have" for anyone on a restricted diet or those concerned about nutrition. The recipes are easy to follow, just as easy to make and taste great. This book provides a wide variety of meal plans to keep any diet interesting and fun.

This cookbook offers great options in both meal planning and good recipes. You can combine the recipes to stay within the calorie range you wish to attain and still have a complete meal, including a dessert. The calorie count for each dish is given, which allows you to plan a variety of menus and still stay within the parameters of your specific diet needs.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's so easy to follow, the food is delicious and there is an enticing picture on every page. You basically pick one meal from breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as two snacks. I am dropping about 2 pounds a week on this diet (I started at 145, so 2 pounds a week is a lot for me). I've been following it on and off for about 5 weeks.
The food is stuff from your regular supermarket (although I had to get maple sugar from amazon for one popcorn recipe).
There's tons to choose from and I also get the magazine every month so I can switch in some new recipes too.

I fully recommend this book.
