I really love this cookbook. I've been a subscriber to Cooking Light on and off the last few years and this cookbook seems to contain the best of the best of the magazine's recipes, at least in my opinion. When I read the magazine, I am always drawn to the recipes that feature the freshest ingredients, especially produce. I love the bright colors and fresh, vibrant tastes of seasonal fruits and vegetables. The recipes featuring those ingredients are precisely the ones you will find in this book. For example, I came home from the grocery with some fresh rhubarb last week because it had just come into season and looked great, but I had no clue what to do with it. I checked the index of this book, found a few recipes featuring rhubarb, gave one a try, and it was fabulous. This book is a great resource for making the most of the season's best.

If you ever wished you had a cookbook that was well organized, easy to follow, and made shopping and menu planning easier, then this is the cookbook for you. I love all the fresh food ideas, and the bonus about cooking in season is that the recipes fit parties and occasions. By simply following the shopping guide, I have the ingredients I need for each season, best of all, the prices are low because the produce is in season and plentiful. I highly recommend this cookbook.

I've been a subscriber of Cooking Light for about a year, but mainly use their selection of cookbooks in the kitchen. So far, this is my favorite cookbook I have used from them. The book provides an ample selection of recipes for each season, the organization is fantastic, photos beautiful, and, most importantly, the recipes delicious!

Each seasonal section starts off with an introduction to typical ingredients used at that particular time. As the sections progress, you are introduced in-depth to specific spices, cooking methods, and other ingredients. The section progresses from drinks and appetizers to main dishes, sides, and desserts.

So far I have made several of the summer recipes and loved them all. I'm very much looking forward to trying more of the fall recipes as the freshest ingredients become available. I just made the Harvest Cake today and thought it was positively delightful- I'm making a second to freeze and save tomorrow!

Overall, a great book for the novice or intermediate cook that is looking to familiarize themselves with seasonal cooking or a collection of recipes that can be utilized at all times of the year.

This is nice cookbook with motivation to cook seasonal with fruits and veggies for many reasons: nutritionally, seasonal means best in taste and freshness, at good price as non-seasonal are expensive, and variety.

So the four seasons of the best of fruits and vegetables are offered in wonderful, bright layout of four-color photos and sidebars of choosing and preparing seasonal fruits and veggies, then great recipe collection for each season. To date, had great results with: Banana-Rum Cocunut Cookies; Chipotle Salmon Burgers (great with whole-wheat English muffins and spiced mayo); Steamed Carrots with Garlic-Ginger Butter; Yellow Squash Ribbons with Red Onions and Parmesan; Brandied Berry Milk Shake; Roasted Butternut Squash and Shallot Soup; Peach and Brie Quesadillas; Blueberry and Orange Parfaits;

Looking forward to trying such as: Gratin of Cauliflower with Gruyere; Pear Pie with Streusel Topping and Caramel Sauce; Carmelized Fresh Figs with Sweet Cream; Peppermint Cheesecake Brownies; Leg of Lamb with Roasted Pear and Pine Nut Relish.

This is fine collection of healthy, creative recipes! Layout is bright and fresh and well done! Great as gift for someone or yourself!

My friend had this cookbook, and we tried several recipes before I just had to get one for myself. These recipes are so yummy. great ideas, and I love how they are separated by season. the Peach Brie Quesadillas are our favorite so far.

I never review on here, but this is by far the best cookbook I've ever owned. Usually I stick with online recipes so I can see how they've been rated/modified, but everything I've made from this book was incredible as-is. I've only had the book for three weeks and I've made the hummus, flatbread pizza, salmon and corn salsa, spiced kebobs with raita, and pulled chicken-- and they were some of the best meals I've ever made!

Other specific pros:

-Relies on healthy, whole ingredients for good nutrition rather than just artificial/fat-free substitutions and small portions
-Includes simple instructions for things more advanced cooks take for granted but beginners don't know how to do (i.e., best way to roast peppers)
-There are pictures of almost everything
-Recipes don't require a zillion ingredients each
-Well-organized with very helpful indices
