5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Satisfying, February 6, 2007

This review is from: Cooking Off the Grid (Perfect Paperback)
I find Nadia's cookbook to be an afternoon of peace, delight and satisfaction each time I open it. I received Cooking Off the Grid as a gift and immediately began using the recipes! Reading Nadia's stories, sharing her life and the lives of others whom she's touched, I cried, laughed, prepared food that already came with love in the recipe, and then was treated to the wonderful results when it was done. Cooking Off the Grid is far beyond a cookbook. It's an invitation into Nadia's kitchen while you're entertained and then treated to a culinary delight. The cookbook's illustrations add to the total sensory experience and immersion into the world of Nadia's family. A life chosen for being "out of the ordinary" comes alive in Cooking Off the Grid!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for cooking anywhere, anytime!, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Cooking Off the Grid (Perfect Paperback)
Not only are the recipes in this book stellar, delicious and easy to follow, the story that accompanies the recipes is both fascinating and lyrical, a real life triumph in a world that needs to know of these possibilities and victories. The illustrations are inspired and stylistically magical. Kudos to this mother/daughter team for creating such a fabulous read for all of us looking not only for a new culinary experience but love at the table. I have given this book to five different people as gifts, and I have received a glowing phone call and review from each of them, along with their thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious from Ojai to Brooklyn!!, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Cooking Off the Grid (Perfect Paperback)
What a perfect recipe book! I used solely this book for a dinner party to warm up my new Brooklyn apartment after tasting fresh and INTERESTING blends of flavors at her book launch/tasting party. The book actually became the center of a whole lively discussion about "Off the Grid" living. It is displayed on my kitchen counter everyday for quick reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too Many Cookbooks? You'll Still Want This One, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Cooking Off the Grid (Perfect Paperback)
This book is ideal for those of us who are seeking a simpler life yet still wanting to enjoy delicious cuisine. Nadia Natali's stories of 20th-Century California "pioneering" are fascinating, the illustrations by her daughter Marica Thompson are charming, and the recipes themselves are clearly written, easy to follow, and ever so tasty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious Variety and Healthy, May 23, 2007
This review is from: Cooking Off the Grid (Perfect Paperback)
Wonderful book - the range of recipes is spectacular. The art is an added spice - not overwhelming but flavorful. This book has been "the cookbook" for my family. It has a full range of vegetarian - meat - and picnic style natural foods. Most of all - they are easy to create. The stories of family and gathering are enjoyable especially if you are trying to plant and grow your own garden. This book inspires - to cook - to plant - to grow - to share. Truly lovely.
