These recipes are both elegant and easy-to-follow. Mr. Haller states at the beginning of the entrée section of the cookbook - "One of the great things about not having a national cuisine is that we're not hampered by tradition."
His creativity and sense of taste spring forward from that point with dishes like Baked Sea Scallops in a Cider Sour Cream Sauce and Breast of Chicken with Old-Fashioned Sage Dressing and Cranberry Maple Glaze. For dessert try the Honey Peach Cream Tart or the Mocha Heaven Pudding. But I can't help but keep going back to the salad section with recipes such as Strawberry and Cucumber Salad with a Honey Lime Dressing and Sliced Cucumbers with a Lemon Sour Cream Dressing.
Even just reading through the recipe titles will make you an instant fan of Mr. Haller's delighful flavor combinations. The simplicity of the recipes will have you coming back for another try something new from this wonderful cookbook - "Cooking in the Shaker Spirit".
