I have purchased 5 or 6 copies of this book and have given away all but one of them. The recipes in this cookbook are incredibly easy to follow, and for someone like myself who has not spent much time in the kitchen, that aspect of the book is critical and much appreciated. Detailed descriptions are given for everything.

3.0 out of 5 stars If you need accurate carb counts, look elsewhere
This cookbook is jam packed with a wide variety of recipes, and the white space beneath shorter recipes is filled in with "helpful household hints." Personally, I found the crammed print and obsessive use of all white space made it visually tiring and hard to read. Others might like the abundant information. All measurements are in both English and Metric,...

When I first began my low carb journey I was resigned to eating food that satisfied me physically but was rather repetitious. With Truly Low Carb Cooking I have experienced something very different. Karen Rysavy has shown us that there is virually nothing that cannot be converted to a low carbohydrate way of eating, and most of this can be done by using ingredients that are readily available to most people.

It is variety that helps us stick with a particular way of living. This cookbook is surely that, and more. It contains helpful household and cooking hints, as well as recipes for a wide variety of dishes that are truly a pleasure to eat. Creamy Cucumbers, Heavenly Mousse, Catsup, Creamy Seafood Bake - the variety is amazing!

I recommend this book without reservation! Put this on your Christmas list for yourself or the food afficionado in your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Must-Have for the Low Carb Diet, November 17, 2001

This review is from: Cooking TLC: Truly Low Carb Cooking Volume 1 (Spiral-bound)
I purchased Karen Rysavy's Truly Low Carb Cooking about 6 months ago and I prepare recipes from it at least 2-3 times a week. It is definitely my most-often used and most beloved cookbook.

Ms. Rysavy's recipes are easy to follow, the ingredients are easy to obtain, and produce reliable and delicious results. This is REAL FOOD for real people and even non-dieters will love these recipes.

TLC Cooking provides recipes for homemade low carb crackers, biscuits, condiments, and desserts that allow you to save so much money by not having to purchase the tres expensive and hard to find "Low Carb Specialty" substitutes.

So many recipes and every one a gem!! If you follow a healthy low-carb lifestyle you will never regret buying Truly Low Carb Cooking Volume 1!

I absolutely love this cookbook. The recipes are easy and fast to make and they taste fantastic!!! I use this cookbook daily and love trying all the variations provided. My favorites are the Nirvana, Cheese Pots and Meaty Chili. I have made these dishes for my non-lc friends and they did not even know the difference. This cookbook is a definite "MUST" for anyone on a low carb lifestyle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cookbook!, November 20, 2001

From chocolate cake to catsup, this book won't disappoint you. I (and my non low-carb family) love the peanut butter cupcakes and cookies, cinnamon coffee cake, almond biscotti--I could go on and on. I have two bookshelves full of low carb cookbooks, but this is the one, folks!

All I can say is that I highly recommend this book to anyone on the Low Carb way of eating. It is a must have - with great tasting, easy to follow recipes. The book opens many possibilities with just the bake mix alone and even the inexperienced cook will find these various recipes and fabulous fakes easy to follow with great results. I have heard many people say that they couldn't possibly succeed on this way of eating because it is so boring and restrictive. Let me tell you - once you have seen and tried some of those recipes you will never think of this way of eating as boring again !

The ONLY LC cookbook I use!! I bought ALL the other FANCY books but go back to Karen's book (AND website) every day. This book is for LC addicts!! A recipe for every taste and level of ambition. No typos! Very impressive. Accurate and explicit instructions. Folds flat and wipes clean. Everything I want/need in a cookbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Low Carb Cookbook I've seen, November 16, 2001

This is my favorite cookbook. The recipes are real "home cooking" dishes that are perfect for family fare. They are easy to prepare and do not require lots of strange, exotic ingredients. I have made quite a few of the recipes and every single one turned out great. The recipe for the low carb baking mix alone is worth the price of the book.

I have lost over 100 pounds low carbing, and could not have kept losing, or kept up the loss if I hadn't had this book! I have tried every other low carb cookbook out there, and none even come close. The recipes are easy to follow, and the tips included are really helpful. Can't wait for the next volume!

This review is from: Cooking TLC: Truly Low Carb Cooking Volume 1 (Spiral-bound)
This book is the best low carb cookbook that I have found. Tehre are many recipes that you already have the ingredients in your home. There is a large variety of recipes to choose from. Some are quite easy and some can be as complicated as you want them to be.
