5.0 out of 5 stars Saving money and STILL using the BEST products avail- mine!!
I almost never get books about making my own beauty items as I feel, sadly, that I am a bit of a label and product whore. But, the only one who really loses in that quest is me and my pocketbook!! The recipe's I've tried so far, that Elizabeth has so specifically explained, have REALLY worked. Unbelievably so!! Better than my Lancome!! I WISH I had known about this book...

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointment
I really did not like this book, I wanted to, because I am interested in health and nutrition, but this book was a disappointment. I did not think that there was a lot of substantial or new information.
Besides, no book titled Beautiful skin should have a recipe with Coca Cola in it, which due to its high sugar content obviously is in no way a beauty food...

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointment, February 12, 2010
This review is from: Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin: Over 75 Antioxidant-Rich Recipes for Glowing Skin (Paperback)
I really did not like this book, I wanted to, because I am interested in health and nutrition, but this book was a disappointment. I did not think that there was a lot of substantial or new information.
Besides, no book titled Beautiful skin should have a recipe with Coca Cola in it, which due to its high sugar content obviously is in no way a beauty food.
Also many recipes have a meat/fruit combination which is absolutely not a good food combination, as fruit take about 30 minutes to digest and meats a whole lot longer.
Not worth the money for me.

The recipe's I've tried so far, that Elizabeth has so specifically explained, have REALLY worked. Unbelievably so!! Better than my Lancome!! I WISH I had known about this book sooner as my skin has never looked so glowy and pore-less and my pocketbook is breathing a sigh of relief as over the counter beauty products are an over priced luxury in this economy. You would be foolish to spend another dime until you, at least, try and few of Miss Tenhouten's recommendations at home. This book is a miraculous secret that will be a number one best seller in no time....

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Book!, March 5, 2010
This review is from: Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin: Over 75 Antioxidant-Rich Recipes for Glowing Skin (Paperback)
I am always striving for ways to improve the condition of my skin and I usually rely on creams and facials to do the work. When I read this book and used some of the recipes I began to see the correlation between eating well and having beautiful skin. Using these antioxidant recipes has helped my skin look and feel more hydrated. My favorite recipe so far is the pretty poached salmon!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beauty, Bite by Byte, February 10, 2010
This review is from: Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin: Over 75 Antioxidant-Rich Recipes for Glowing Skin (Paperback)
I picked up Cooking Well..Beautiful Skin because of the delicious cover and found that I couldn't put it down. In under 200 pages, Elizabeth TenHouten has managed to remake both my meal planning and my skin care regime. This book belongs in the kitchen and the bathroom. The tweaks that she makes to tried and true recipies, pairing eggplant with pears and figs, adding beets to a curried chicken salad and punctuating a tuna salad with pomegranate seeds, add essential nutrients while delighting my senses.

I particularly like the Beauty Bytes, simple recipes for radiant skin, using ingredients that you already have in your kitchen. My favorite is the Hydrating Body Scrub...who knew that coffee grounds improve circulation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great marriage of quality advice and yummy recipes, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Cooking Well: Beautiful Skin: Over 75 Antioxidant-Rich Recipes for Glowing Skin (Paperback)
This book fulfills perfectly it's task - great, flavorful recipes that also do wonders for your skin. With a plethora of books out there that tackle this issue by restricting the fun and flavor of great food, Elizabeth's recipes actually make you want to eat it! Top stuff!

I would highly recommend this book! The "Pretty Poached Salmon" and "Delectable Duck" are to die for! What I enjoy most about this book is that it educates you on the importance of how antioxidants help protect the body against free radical damage. There is also a section on easy "at home" antioxidant-rich treatments (such as body scrubs and face masks) to help enhance your skin!

I love this book...the author offers delicious and super easy recipes that are dedicated to improving your skin, hair, body and mind. The antioxidant beauty bytes teach you how to create your own all natural skin exfoliate, ultra soothing face masks, smoothing foot creams, facial toners and lots more. They were easy to create and I could see the results from the first use. The book is easy to read and follow and lots of fun too! It is the ultimate guide to self indulgence that makes your skin absolutely glow.
